You don't have to "A grade" Cutter to be best combat ship in game

Hi everyone!
First of all I want to say "Thanks god rank grinding is over!".
It was so borring and paintfull, but i got Imperial Cutter.
First thing i did of course is -
I jumped (32) times to Kamito to upgrade my "Porche" -
as good as i could because i had just a 600 Million credits for everything.
Then i did some combat and i was dissapointed a little...
My outfit was similar to my last ships (Federal Corvette) outfit -
and it performed quite poor in combat.
After that i did lots of combinations of different weapons and i found it!
I found my "Holy Grail". It is a mix of A, B and D grades.
So.. I decided to share my new and at this point last loadout of my combat Porche:
http://coriolis.io/outfit/imperial_...wRj4yvZYo==.IwBj4yu8g===?bn=Skynet Terminator
There you can see are 3 gimballed and 4 turreted weapons.
Coriolis does not tell you whitch is under ship or which on top so i tell you...
You need to have 2 turreted medium multi cannons on top (large hardpoints)
You need to have 2 turreted medium beam lasers on top of engines.
You need to have 2 gimballed medium multi canons in bottom of engines.
And you have to put one Large gimballed beam laser on ship bottom (huge hardpoint).
You have to put it right this because otherwise weapons won't fire efficiently.
Put yoursef A or B 8 batteries and go to combat, see for yourself..
This ship is amazing!!! You can't touch it without hurting a lot yourself! ;)
Enjoy my loadout or leave any comment.
Have a nice combat! ;)

try class 2 frag cannon + class 4 cannon underneath; if the goal is to burst down before own shield drops. :)

Yes i agree it is a good hull damage, but in for example RES there is a lot of small ships annoying by flying far far away and keeping distance and thus canons can't cach them.
While beams and multicanons can fire quite far and precisely.

Sure, for RES you want longevity. I find they are great on a trader though. Pirates have no clue that phat cutter with all the loot is packing frags. :)

After a cursory reading i assume this fit is for pve not for pvp. Don't get me wrong, i don't own a Cutter or Corvette (and i don't even have the intention to own one of them), but with this fit i cannot see you standing or run from a well coordinated wing of smaller ships, especially if you are mass locked in a RES.

Without any problem.
You really have to see yourself.
I want to record viedo. But problem is i don't know how to put ir on youtube in HD quality.

Vs another players? OK suit yourself but believe me it's not so easy. I will PM some videos with some of my kills Cutters, Vette etc solo or with a help from a friend. In all of them we fly FAS's or Clippers.
As for video if you have an Nvidia card with shadowplay support, record the movie then convert to mp4, you can find the recommended settings on youtube. The results for me are not the best but they are more than enough.

Good luck with your fit you're gonna need it.

I have Radeon R9 290 now i am searching for video making solutions...

But i mean more like PVE not PVP.
None of big ships are good for PVP.
I just want to say Cutter is better than any other ship for PVE.

Nice build I'm almost tempted but I think will hang on for a bit more cash. My current cutter is pretty gunned up, but as its a hauler the 6A shields make it vulnerable in any drawn out encounter. So I'm heavy on the boost button to salvation if needed.

From this build I think I need about 250KCr to buy anther cutter and build a pure combat variant. Might still be light on bulkhead amour but it'll be worth a shot. How do you handle the heat with all them SCB ?

Current hauler has a huge PA and I'm thinking for No2 a couple more and the rest lasers of some turreted description as a first stab.

Pretty much anything mass locked in a res with a swarm on its tail will find it hard don't you think ?

As for PVP didn't the apology thread amount to catch me if you can ? :)

Thats true its the combination of different classes to get the most out of your build its a combination of a,b,c,d,e clas modules to get the best out of your purpose builds . you dont need een high A class frameshift drives for a short range patrol ship , or get the best characteristics out of your ship having an light weigt cobra with a class thrusters for maximum boosts , or E class unites for lower power draws for a more stealthy db scout.
Its all in the configuration.

wont the D thrusters make its maneuverability even worse than it already is? or is that impossible?

Isn't the bi weave shields better for prolonged PvE?

Still... Played all day long and compared my previous experience with Federal Corvette (everybody says it is a best combat ship) and my new Imperial Cutter (now i have also 8A shields). Yes it is really difficult to balance between shield cell banks and/or chaff launchers. Yes, it is a little longer play than Corvette because of Power Distributor but.. but.. but... I really stay in RES for a longer time than in Corvette. A lottt longer. Why?
SHIELDS:
There is 775 MJ more shields in SCB and 537 more shields in Shield Generator = 1312 more shield total!
HARDPOINTS:
There is 2 medium (Cutter) hardpoints instead of 2 small (Corvette) hardpoints.
* Everyone knows small are useless but also large and huge you can't put all strongest weapons in all slots because of owerheating or/and 1 class higher distributor does not charge sufficient power for all of them.
* Turrets placement on Cutter is better than on any other ship.
HULL / ARMOUR:
Hull and armur on Cutter is better than on Corvette.
SPEED / BOOSTING:
You can really fu*k off if you want by running/boosting away.
* Cutter speed decreases very slowly after boosting.
So it is a huge speed for that ship at most time.

Cutter is a beast, wich is aint that easy to tame like anaconda or vette. It would be nice to have a slight buff for its turn rate (like 1,5 or 2 sec faster) and bit better base cooling(10-15% better), similar like for FDL in these both areas, but even at the way as it is now, its completly fine Imo. Class 8 PD would make it too OP though. I do hope if after Engineers update will be possible to get mini buffs like that from them, fingers crossed...

Its very underrated by many in PVP it seems.... well, probly most of them aint ever fly one.

I own both and would say its the best trade ship in the game, which can also do serious combat. But to say it would take out my Corvette, I dont think so. Although a Corvette would also have a hard time killing a Cutter, since it can easily run away(even with D rated drives).

Quick comparison: The Corvette has almost the same shielding, mine has Prismatic, 1990mj (and thats with KWS+Chaff) vs your pure booster build which is 2304mj. If you remove the 2 boosters the Corvettes shields are actually a bit bigger. The A8 SCB is compensated for by the Corvettes 2xA7 SCB's. People always talk about how amazing the shields are on a Cutter (which they are), but they forget the Corvette is almost identical with the right set up. Only reason I would say the Cutter might be a bit tougher overall is because of its supposed higher armor "hardness factor" which is significantly higher than almost any other ship in the game. Where it loses out is poor pitch and huge momentum(glide). Which can be offset if you set up a long range joust. If you try to turn right after a pass, the Corvette will have an advantage as it will get its guns on you faster. But if you instead hit boost after a pass and just keep going in a straight line for a bit, you can get enough distance to allow you to be turned around by the time you engage again, neutralizing the Corvettes better pitch. Basically in this comparison, overall they are quite even (as long as the Corvette is using its speed advantage).

This is where fire power comes in and what puts the Corvette on top. Bigger capacitor! And once the new Huge weapons are introduced, the Corvette will gain a further advantage. Both are really good ships. Personally I use the Cutter as an armed to the teeth trader. And the Corvette is my go to rez combat ship.

Cutter... what can masslock a cutter? Nothing else but another Cutter. (well, yea, the zone itself, but aside that - if you want to get the heck out - you'll get the heck out, nothing can stop you from doing so).
