You get the bounty for shooting a ship with 0% hull

I discovered this tonight by accident -

Ship has been torn apart by NPCs, it is at 0% hull and is in its death throes.
Swoop in, plant a laser on it, get the full bounty.

This means that you do not have to be hostile to the ship for the entirety of the time it is under attack. With the improved AI you can fly alongside it and very rarely get hit by incoming fire.

Now that the bounties have been increased, and combat contracts too, this is starting to feel a little 'cheaty' to me.

There must be a better solution surely?

Solution to what? I've got nearly 900 claimed bounties and I don't know how many assassinations to my name and never once have I entered a fight with a ship already at 0% hull. This is clearly not something that's "exploitable".

In before posts of "There's no problem with getting credit for shooting a 0% health npc," "bounty payouts are fine," "trading is just as easy," and "traders make more money with less effort [than it takes to shoot a dead npc].":rolleyes::rolleyes:

This patch is hilarious. It saddens me just how easy this game is becoming.

You don't enter the fight with it at 0% hull, you enter a fight already in progress and wait for the ship to be reduced to 0%. In conflict zones this can happen very quickly, like 30 seconds quick.

Once you realise that you don't need to go in guns blazing, you just need to get close and sit there, it's like a cheat.

There's an old saying that goes like this. Don't come with problems, come with solutions. How would you handle the issue of deciding who gets how much of the bounty? Percentage based on damage dealt? Full bounty to whoever lands the killing blow? Full bounty to the first aggressor? FD have clearly decided that NPC's claiming bounties is a non starter and that players take precedent. I don't see a major issue with that approach tbh.

Don't do it then ;) Let me ask you this. Do you combat log? I'm guessing not. Why not? Because it's a tactic you don't agree with? Apply the same logic.

Yeah, Really....traders making the most credits and getting the best ships, "playing" whilst watching TV, reading books and chilling out in hotel rooms, using on-line trading tools, etc etc etc............prooves just how easy this game was....add in the rares exploits and performance enhancer explits, and yuo can see that Trading was just an out of control joke.
.
It was easier to BUFF the other careers, because some of you would have gone Super Nova if they had nerfed trading.........

I don't think you normally get the bounty. At least I didn't when shooting at a dying Eagle earlier.

I did it twice tonight, once in a nav point and once in a combat zone. If we're going to get the bounty within 10 seconds of the thing blowing up that's one thing, if we can still get it by shooting it when it's already dead in the water, that's a bit much.

And this is the mandatory "traders make more money with less effort than it takes to shoot a dead npc" post. Good to see we're on track, lol.

Still not got the solution then?

Solution: No credit unless you've done the most damage.

You have been crying all day like a kid.........and not because someone took your toys away, but because other kids get to have some fun too?
.
Go trade, nothing is stopping you.

That's not going to be much fun for the newbie in his free sidewinder who fancies doing some bounty hunting at a RES and finds he can't compete with 3 or 4 NPC ships all pounding away at his target though.

Crying? Kid? Nice ad homenim. Flagged.

And some of us would rather play a reasonably well balanced game than a game where they cater to the instant gratification crowd.

How does an approximate 60% increase in bounties suddenly become equal to "instant gratification"? Tell you what. Clear your save, do nothing but bounty hunt, come back when you're flying a fully kitted Python. I'm willing to bet you won't be back for a good long while.

Jesus christ I really don't get you. Did they nerf your favourite activity? Because it doesn't seem so.
They just buffed other people's favourite activities? Why does this upset you?
Don't worry about the 0% hull, I'm sure it will be fixed soon, and in the meanwhile it's not like it's making your game crash or your ship explode, so chill out man...
