You guys ARE following this Nanomed thing right?

I think it is a reasonable conclusion to link the Nanomeds and unbreakable tablets to first person mode without vehicles, regardless of when it will be released. There have certainly been issues with some Galnet articles, but in the end I do like to skim the headlines at least. Even if the status reports are the most relevant information for us players, I usually skip those since they are the most boring entries (probably because they seem generated instead of written - even those obviously template based local news are more fun to read).

As the existence of this thread and several similar to it indicate, Galnet is engaging enough to create discussions and speculations, usually a good thing. Lets hope that these stories provide accurate enough information to keep the expectations within something that actually will be delivered. I expect many disappointed players (again) if the imagination is left unchecked.

Frontier hasn't even started discussing what is coming next yet, so at the very least the next expansion is several months away from release. Judging by the fact they only recently went "full production mode" on it, I doubt we'll see any news on it until 2019's Gamescom at the earliest. If that expansion is the first part of Space Legs I wouldn't expect a release before Dec 2019. Then what would be the point in releasing the first hints now, and through some obscure story on galnet of all things? When Frontier does SL, they'll want to hit the community hard and flood the gaming press with all the CGI they can conjure up just a few months before release.

Yes, it's just "fluff to make us thinkg there is more going on than there actually is". People have been enjoying such things, to take their mind off of what actually is, since the dawn of times. If next time you feel like being less periphrastic (and less of a downer), you can call it a story.

Back in the dark ages, before the interwebs, I think they were called... "Books".

I don't think this is foreshadowing spacelegs for the same reason that the FSD tests and new ship computers mentioned in Galnet a while back didn't result in new FSDs or a new HUD.

Galnet: There's a bunch of interesting stuff happening! No, you can't take part in those! Why? No reason. Sucks to be you, right? Now get back to the mining!

Don't forget the giant, sentient, mining robots that escaped onto some planet or other... never to be seen or heard from again.

Meh, we had nannymeds when I was a kid. I would call, hurt myself or something, and granny would come and kiss it all better. Got a bit embarrassing in my 20s like..;)

Do you mean this story? The case itself seems closed, but it could be seen as a puzzle piece with other stories of robots doing things they should not, to create a feeling of distrust around robots. But that is speculation. Still, considering the timeframes between major updates, half a year ago is not unimaginable long ago in my opinion.
