You know its BAD when they have to release a guide

So C&P are so screwed theyve had this VERY unhelpful guide out, and NOBODY gets it, STILL. Hell, I still dont understand 25% of it.
As of right now, its doing more harm than good, and just plain and simply needs to be done away with.
They tried, they failed. Back to the proverbial drawing board.
I sure as havent spent 4yrs playing this game and spent at least $200 in cosmetics to help support them, just so they could screw it up to the point where nobody plays anymore .

I don't mind that it requires a guide. I actually like some of the complexities of ED.
My issue with the current C&P isn't about understanding it, it's disagreeing with the rules. Some of it is just silly. (i'm looking at you, 'bounties for trespass')

Because a game should be so simple and shallow you don't even need a manual for it.

Sign of the times.

I think people are trying to say it should explain itself naturally.

It kind of does though, aside from perhaps saying GO TO INTERSTELLAR FACTORS when you log in anonymously at a station.

If the guide would be in-game, I'm all for it.

Also, at least they attemted to fix it (instead of doing nothing), I'm sure they will polish it over the months, calm your pants.

More hyperbole. The C&P system is actually very easy to understand. Any additonal complexities have only arisen as a result of trying to appease those who want the game in permanent "Easy Mode". However, it still boils down to a very simple set of rules, commit a minor crime & you get a fine you can immediately pay off under Anonymous Protocols. Commit a Major Crime & you get a Bounty on your ship, that can only paid off upon "being brought to book", or by using an Interstellar Factor. Capital Crime (Murder) has bountiea that work the same as major crime, but with the addition of Notoriety that must wear off before you can pay the Bounty via IF.

Pretty much everything else is extra fluff. Score sufficient bounties with a single Superpower, & you get an Interstellar Bounty.

I am seriously struggling to see why some people are allegedly finding the system so hard to fathom. I see no need to "go back to the drawing board" at all.

This is a joke right? How many people here need to use the guide? Guides are designed for people who struggle, makes sense to write a guide for those people. Same deal with the manual, how many people here sat down and read the entire manual?

I am totally fine with bounties for trespass. I just wish they were more severe. I also want Smuggling to earn a bounty, same as piracy.

Since the rules of the game has changed and we may need to adapt or playstyle it makes sense they made a manual. Not everyone is up to speed with the patch notes

If the people leaving in droves are the ones running afoul of the C&P system... I probably won't miss them anyways.

I didnt even know there was a guide...dont really see the need fer one because apart from a few bits n pieces that dont make sense, the rest is fairly easy to get to grips with without ever once leaving the game. Personally, Im enjoying the game because now theres a reason to play as a criminal...its no fun if theres no consequences which is why I still think the consequences are too soft...and yet here we are moaning about soft consequences?

This is why we cant have nice things...

just so they could screw it up to the point where nobody plays anymore .

i think my memo to stop playing must have got lost in the post, not just me either seems a fair few thousand others didn’t get it as the trade Cg seemed to have a considerable number taking part.

yes the new C&P system is difficult to get your head around at first but it’s a step in the right direction and far better than what we had before. You have every right to come on the forum and voice your opinion on the situation but I fear trying to say no ones playing because of it just detracts from any meaningful points you may put forward.

very few things created by man are ‘perfect’ right at conception , almost everything we invent needs tweaking and improving and as long as ED recognise this and are prepared to do the work needed the game will always get better.

Them somebody PURLEESE write me an Idiot's guide to C & P, (and no not the person who designed it), as i genuinely can't get my silly old head around it!

Half the games I play require you to spend a bit of time reading a manual or at the very least documenting yourself on various mechanics on a wiki.
I've probably spent just as much time reading up on orbital mechanics and more broadly classical mechanics as I've spent actually playing Orbiter and KSP, coming from a decidedly non-scientific educatinal background. I certainly don't see that as a negative.

In fact I wish ED was complex enough that you'd need to read guides and the manual.
