You know your looting has totally "gone south" when it starts "raining men"!

Arai's Mine in Iah Bulu goes active and then inactive and/or a CZ. Yesterday it was active. Today me and my partner in crime this venture took a trip there. We had out actions outlined, starting with taking out a patrolling guard whose route takes him past the CMD building. So we land and get to our ambush position, and I thinks to myself, "this is too quiet". Should have paid more attention to my SRV radar I suppose. So, I reckon that the settlement is now inactive and some scavs are likely to show up.

So we proceed with our looting until the sound of engines can be heard. Back to our SRVs we run. As we are getting in, we come under fire. Beating a hasty retreat, we regroup and then advance to start killing those pesky scavs. We soon become aware of a problem. The ships just keep coming, and so do the men to attack us. The only thing that I could think of, was that this was now a CZ. We were there to loot, not fight, and so left for easier pickings.

So, if my assessment is incorrect, please advise.

If you were a CMDR in this action and got shot at by SRVs, apologies, but karma's (not the weapon) a b**ch and we did not shoot first.

Arai's mine is most definitely offline. I don't think its a combat zone, I saw a few reactivation missions for it a wee bit ago.

I've noticed sometimes in abandoned, usually ones I've brought the power back online in, settlements, scavengers will spawn in and be dropped from diamondback scout/explorers (this is how you tell scavengers apart from mercs; mercs drop in from Vultures). It sounds like whatever timer that determines how long until they spawn bugged out and just kept spawning more.

I can think of a few commanders who'd enjoy it raining men...!

I feel like I'm being called out :p

Definitely not Scouts or Explorers. Looked like Vultures or Vipers as they had the two prongs at the front. It was an empty, powered down settlement. With fires IRRC.

Just been to Arai's Mine on a restore mission. Did not see a soul. Lots of loot, all MINE!. Pity I have no space for data.

If you want Iah Bulu to keep all those Anarchic qualities you like there it's about time to start supporting its controlling faction instead of harvesting. They're inches away from a war over control of the system.

Hey..... to whom it may concern, I restored the power and left the settlement up and running! I did not run amok in an active settlement, do lots of murder/death/kill and steal the power regulator.

I believe that I found a smear campaign plan there as well. Just adding it to the pile I already have that I cannot pass on to other CMDRs looking for an unlock. Because no one wants them apparently.

Well, i've had 2 drops at the same time. That was like 10-12 scavs/reinforcements.
When they all converge on you, it may feel like raining... sort of...

Edit: and i've also had situations when the drops kept coming... after the 5th i gave up.
Sure, it wasnt a settlement but an Irregular Marker, but i guess it may happen

One or two waves with a bit of time between them is one thing, this seemed like a sky full of ships.
Not seen the like before.
I’ve seen this for crashed ships, where the assets were “doubled” but it was actually about 8 instances of a chest for each chest. You could open the chest and there was a chest inside, you got them all open and you could loot the same slot multiple times. And yes, the scavs came the same way, the ships were pretty much queued up to drop off scavengers. At least 25 enemies gunning for me.

I’d suspect something similar here.
