You know your on your way to Beagle Point when...

...you have to jump 50 times for a thousand lightyears with 40ly FSD range.

50*40ly=2000 ly

This is actually quite normal in the Abyss. The Abyss... you're generally glad you can find a path - any path - through it. And, given the dearth of star systems there, oftentimes it can take as many as 50 jumps for a 40ly ship to make a kylie.

on my recent trip I crossed with route plotter spewing out 28 jumps for 1kly - 22/23 is the norm (48ly plottable due to full fuel tank) it even worked right to beagle, the only manual plots where about 6-7 to ishums reach with some jumponium.

the last time I went in an asp pre engineers it was manual plotting for some 2kly as the route plotter just misbehaved and didn't really work that well.

but... You know you're on your way to beagle when you have converted tasks into LY i.e making a cup of tea = 400LY

150ly - Kettles boiled
200LY - teabags in with hot water
300LY - milks in bags out
400LY - sat back down with a biscuit

All achieved during FSD countdown and witch space :)

The Abyss has lost a lot of it's charm now that we have nice jump ranges, I didn't go there with a 40ly ship but I'm sceptical you need that many jumps for a 1000 ly run.
I'd say the new "Abyss" is the Perseus Fade, much harder to cross since you need jumponium to do so.

You know you're on your way to Beagle Point when you equip a mining laser and whisper that dreaded word 'Germanium' . . .

Coming from you, sage advice... [hehe]

I don't mess with any of that jump range booster stuff, so I'm pretty safe not getting myself into too much trouble. Had to make sure my ship could at least do 34 LY though to make it out there.

Cheers.
