Greetings CMDR's,

Welcome to the end of another week. Going to be speeding up the poll's a little over the next week, I figure Lakon today and then do the smaller ship makers through next week and then the one I think will really set the cat amongst the Pigeons... Gutamaya! This will mean I can have the Final vote over the new year weekend with the winner being announced on New Year day. :)

Lets get down to business...

The Poll.

EDIT: For those late to the party this poll is to help pick which ship is the forum users favourite ship. Each week a different ship makers vessels are put to the vote against each other. The winner will be put into the grand final vote just before the New Year.

This week see Lakon Spaceways ships put on the front line as the specialist providers of exploration ships and freighters and of course the Taipan fighter. This one could be close if the Hutton truckers get involved...

You know the drill by now, 1 vote for 1 ship with the winner going through to the grand final!

Current Finalists:
Python
Vulture

IMPORTANT NOTE: Can Someone please lock TJ up for the day as we all know how fond he is of ensuring polls go the way he wants ;)

The Weekend.

Not got a lot of time this morning so I'll cut back on the questions for the various professions, they will return next week though! That's not to say your off the hook though... Tell us everything, all the gory details and leave nothing out! Give us your weekend plans NOW!

And that's all I have time for right now so over to you folks, as always please keep it clean and have fun!

The small amount of time I have this weekend will be spent jumping closer to Colonia as part of the CCN - even though I haven't seen another player ship since leaving the bubble?!? I am doing the journey in Open as it's far more fun to have even the chance of an encounter ;)

EDIT: Scrap the above weekend plans, I now have to search far to many hard drives for my old avatar image...

Just going to leave this here. Flown all of them except the Taipan and the Asp Explorer is an exceptional piece of work and a great exploration ship to fly, plus it's the only one out of all the Lakon ships that I've kept. Enough sizable compartments to fit what you need plus a bit more and the visibility out of the canopy is fantastic. The view alone is worth more than the extra jump range of an exploraconda (my opinion!). I love it as much as my FDL!

IMHO it would help to describe what this Poll is supposed to be about ??!

Trying to decide on an answer has made me realise how important the entire Lakon range has been to me.

For the last couple of weeks I have been holding a regular poll to help pick the Forum Ship of the Year. We've already done Falcon DeLacy and Core Dynamics, with the Python and Vulture having won and making it to the final.

Out of the Lakon ships, I've flown the AspX most. For this reason, I shall not be voting for it. As I've farted across the galaxy in one, I've become increasingly annoyed by the eggy smell the thing leaves across solar systems. I have, instead, voted for the ship that got me into my first Clipper, the humble T7. A mid-priced artic of a ship, it doesn't even require an HGV licence to fly.

Lakon aren't my favourite manufacturer.

Noted - although it doesn't usually restrict his movements for long - and he's not the only Mod....

Normally I have no problem with any of you having some fun with my Friday polls, that's kind of what they are for, to end the week with some silly fun for all of us. I'm sure he and the others will behave until the new year when I will have a poll especially designed to be messed with. ;)

no.

Clipper...

Go shove a thing up your thing.

Learn your ship makers! :D Gutamaya will be done last as it will possibly cause wars.

Asp is just such a standout ship I had to vote for it, but truth be told, this manufacturer makes some of my favourites. I still own my first T6, DBE and Asp. The Taipan is the coolest of the SLFs on account of the founding wings, but the least useful of the bunch IMO.
Either way, love your posts OP. Have some rep :)

Thank's Ozram! :)

I figured this weeks poll would either be a clear win for the Asp or one of the freighters with so many people having used them for trading. Voting lasts for a few days so things could change but so far it's looking like a runaway victory... Does someone want to wake the Hutton Truckers, I know they always sleep late on a work day! :D

Thank heavens for these threads. Like a shaft of gold when all around is darkness*. I salute you, Bran. :)

Lakon ship of the year award 2016 should go to the Asp Explorer.

Now Bran, don't tell me off too much, but I'm about to commit blasphemy...

*clears throat and shuffles nervously from foot to foot*

The Asp Explorer is the natural progression from the Cobra MkIII. There, I said it, phew!

It has more capacity, more weaponry, greater range and is a tougher nut to crack, while still being a lot of fun to fly. It prepares one for some of the bigger ships; the AspX drifts like a rally car on a dirt track. Once one gets used to that, it becomes part of its charm.

Also, it sounds like a Lancaster Bomber, BUT IN SPACE!

Mine has been in moth balls for months because I spent so much time in it for so long, but I'd never sell it. I used it to earn the money to buy most of my fleet.

So, basically, it handles like this:

And it sounds like this:

And it gets you this:

Oh, and did I mention the view?

This weekend I will mostly be found in an icy res site, gittin gud with my new, all fixed FdL load out.

*anybody who knows this Monty Python reference gets a mince pie.

You include "AspE" as an option, and the poll answers are going to be about as diverse as your "most CMDR ship" poll.

That said, DBS picked, for being the quintessential underdog ship.

Keelback - having fun tooling around in one at the moment. I would have voted Asp-E, but the sense relief I get when I realise I've been interdicted by an Asp-E and know I can probably take it out with my Keelback loses it some points.

DBE would have been in with a shout, but it's lacking that je ne sais quoi... no wait, it's lacking an internal slot. ;)
