Young Players

Do you remember the fun time you had in Elite - before the rank and materials grind? Before Squadron Goals and Faction fights? I ask this questions because I have young players in my team who want to do that stuff - crew together, go surface mining together and beat up pirates in a CNB or Haz RES TOGETHER - but the more experienced players don't have that time - we have the background simulation to manipulate, CZ's to fight and win, systems to defend, cargoes to shift, VIP's to disgruntle etc etc.

In short, we cannot deliver what our young members want because we are too caught up GAMING, not PLAYING. So - does anyone know of a Squadron or system where younger players can just 'hang out' together - preferably in US Time Zones - and hopefully free from the 'seal clubbers'.

Are there any parents out there who have established a squadron for younger players to PLAY, rather than GAME, together? Has this been discussed before and I've missed the thread?

I know that E:D is not designed for the early teens (or earlier), but neither can it just be a game for the post fifties generation either. I ask these questions because I want to encourage the next generation of Elite:Dangerous players and to do the best for my team - and I would appreciate the sincere answers most of all.

No idea personally - but if nothing better comes up, you might want to check out the Buur Pit discord: https://discord.gg/WhRAe5j
I know that they have young players around - CMDRs Buur and Rheeney can become very stern if people start using "adult" language in the voice chat on common activities.

My 12yrs daughter has something like 2k+ hours in the game... she did a lot of BGS stuff at the beginning as she loved to build up a little "anarchy bubble" (now ruined by dozens of wars and the "anarchy" demise). Currently she plays as KUMO Crew with one of my accounts (in open play, of course) and she's also quite good at PvP.

She hates mining and grinding. :ROFLMAO:

What grind? I just go up the ranks naturally, comes through playing the game.

You only "grind" if you want to. If you don't enjoy it, why would you want to do it? What's the "end game" purpose to do it in this sandbox?

Play it your way.

Thank you all for your comments to an unusual question - but please pardon me if I don't follow Cmdr Cral Travis down the nit-picking rabbit-hole over what constitutes 'grind' within the game )

I have an private group for my children and grandcildren where we play together. Sometimes we have even long projects like travel to Colonia. Quite often only one evening or two tasks like the Mystery of Black Flights. Earlier when we all had not grinded all engineers etc. we did those together. Sometimes we only take wing missions to collect credits. SRV racing in planetary platforms is also funny, but just having fun and chating is the main purpose, because we live far away from each others in different countries.

I'm 80 yr and the youngest in my group is 20+ yr so we have quite a lot differences in our playstyles so we can discuss our experiences in all gaming areas including also Odysey gaming.
