I'm not able to check, but did you try quitting the game and restarting it? I would also say to post this in the bug section too.
That's like asking if the TV is on, something that I didn't even think about, will be funny if that's the case.
True, and the OP does say 'can only play solo now' which kind of indicates they could play it in the past - things do expire though and permissions get changed on the console.There's no reported issues with Open Play or CQC, we have people in the office

Playing in the office!? I was already envious, but this just takes it over the top!
Funny thing is I did see my friends playing open play, so I knew it wasn't a Frontier bug..
Yeap took me about an hour to figure out how to upgrade my membership with the new Xbox interface.. Turns out it cancelled my automatic renewals when I switched credit cards. Nice to see I can still play Elite with Silver tho.. playing Solo, I actually save on rebuy costs, lol

Glad to hear that you have it sorted, as you've discovered you need Gold for Open Play & CQC, but can play Solo with just a Silver Account.
Not sure if you're in a position to say, but do Frontier get a cut of the XBL Gold fees? like based on how many play ED?
I'd just feel happier knowing that you guys get something from that fee

I only deal with the games development, someone else manages the money side of things.
I will hunt all of you officer Xbox players til they get back on developing Horizons.
Funny thing is i am having the same issue, only lets me play solo, the same goes for other games like ESO.
I have gold membership and i am 100% positive it is still active. I can join parties though.

I'll hazard a guess and say - I doubt they do. Imagine the paperwork for that at Microsoft HQ to assign payment to every developer based off subscribers hours!
Would love to hear different, though.
