Engineers "Your Cargo - give it to me"! No Cargo and I STILL lose my 'Conda to the spanking new AI

So If I have no cargo to give - I'm still going to lose millions in insurance because I dont even have cargo to surrender to an obviously more powerful AI?
This oddity of demanding for cargo when I did not have any was ok before 2.1 - I could always escape - now I'm down another 6 million because of this - which I think needs to be addressed seeing how tolerance to previously ok situations has much less acceptance now

They never cared about cargo. It's a ruse to make you pause long enough to be killed. If your ship is too slow to boost away it better be outfitted to fight.

NPC Pirates are supposed to ask for cargo and leave you alone after you give them some. That's the intended behavior. Sorry to disappoint you but the AI is borked and that isnt the only instance of it

if you give them the cargo the still kill you, atleast theywill try

I was t a compromised nav beacon. Got scanned and they always leave me alone if I have no cargo. They make some comment about me or going hungry etc... The point is they don't attack. Perhaps if interdicted they might not sure as the few times that happened today I was in my ASP my Python was in storage as I went on the long voyage for meta metals. I was able to escape easily each time and it was only a few times I was interdicted. I found the balance to be fair. Of course an ASP is faster then an Anaconda, but the Anaconda has better shields, weapons and can also high wake out as can anyone else.

I will tell you right now as an explorer this mechanic is stupid. We explorers don't even have cargo racks. If the AI would take a few seconds after interdicting you to go through the subtargets like a player would they would know we carry no cargo and realize it is a huge waste of time even demanding cargo in the first place. As an explorer coming back to the bubble to enjoy the Engineers patch it worries me immensely that this behavior is still in place for the AI and I as an explorer can be blown up by an AI that is too stupid because it was programmed incorrectly to know I have no cargo and lose all of my hard earned exploartion data for it as well. The only dangers as an explorer I should have to worry about are flying to close to certain celestial bodies and in the future hostile alians.

In Res Mining or in a Nav Beacon I get scanned and the pirates leave me alone when empty. If they indite they attack. However I always boosted right away and never actually stopped.

Has anyone tried to stop to let them scan you?

the problem is when they dont scan you - they just demand your cargo whether you have it or not! this happens more rarely than. most of the times they do scan you and leave u alone if you dont have cargo.
the problem is in those rare situations - esp if the pirate is an anaconda - the 23 factor Mass inhibitor + insanely powerful AI makes it almost impossible for larger ships to boost away and escape - as happened to me. Like I said - before 2.1 - I was ok with this - but post 2.1 with the Beefy AI this is unacceptable! Commanders with no cargo should not have to lose their ships.

The NPC pirates are still broken, but now they are more broken than ever!

before they would pull you out of SC, say some scripted rubbish and then attack you regardless of you having cargo or not etc.

Now the NPC's pull you out of SC, say some scripted rubbish and then destroy you because they have had their AI boosted and been given modded weapons that takes us hours to grind out if we want them

So NPC's have gone from bad to worse.

Proper NPC Pirates should pull you out of SC and

1. tell you to power down and stop
2. make demands, give X amount of cargo etc.
3 If you drop X amount of cargo they let you go with a warning or attack if you move or do not drop cargo in X amount of time.

Until thats fixed, NPC's will always be broken.

NPC's are not really Pirates, NPC's are griefers....

Why can't you escape?

It's funny, I have had NPCs go after my Eagle for cargo, even though it doesn't have a cargo hold, yet I have been scanned while mining in a ship with a cargo hold and the NPC has gone away and left me alone when he found my hold was full of limpets. It makes no sense.

I tried it today. Was in my Asp no cargo, checked the ship, was a Master Adder and I stood still ... he attacked me right away (about 1 sec after I dropped). Even if I wanted to I could not have gotten to the menu quick enough to jettison any cargo. That did nearly cost me a insurance fee, because my A Asp with 2 Point defences on was hammerd by Missiles to near oblivion. I killed him with 25% Hull left .... an ADDER!!!!
