YOUR CLIENT IS TOO OLD PLEASE UPGRADE TO THE LATEST VERSION OF ELITE DANGEROUS

Now having been online for a few hours with only the bugs of Odyssey causing problems I suddenly cannot connect to servers, on checking, the above message is shown on the menu page with Error 403 from Webserver. I dutifully download the Client and re-install, thinking this is strange as I already had the latest launcher. Behold, on succesfully installing the game once again tells me that my Client is too old and I cannot connect.
So is this Frontiers solution to a substandard game release by stopping people from even getting online ?
 
Are you a lifetime pass owner that connected your account to Steam? I've been getting this for the last few updates and starting the launcher manually (not through Steam) has allowed me to upgrade.
 
Yeah I was forgetting that this is the price we all have to pay for a rushed release that is trying to keep the players happy but, sadly is having exactly the reverse effect.
 
Stuck in same situation since first hotfix.
Issue is still present on Epic Games.
Neither Horizons or Odyssey will launch.
Verifying files does not work.
Disabling cashe check does not work.
Using the launcher directly does not work.

Neither support ticket, one for this error and another for a refund, have been responded to.

The hotter fix did not fix the hotfix

Go into your game files, find EdLaunch.exe - launch the game. It will let you update the game. It helped me, and i had the same problem

This is me exactly. Same thing since yesterday.

It wont help some of us because we get to play the exciting game of:
"check your email for a verification code so that we can tell you to purchase a game you've already bought."
over and over and over and over and over again

Not even Ubisoft could up a release this badly.

I do appreciate your honorable attempts to help others, but this isn't a solution at this time.
