Your favourite ship

Proud owner of 15 ships all engineered.
But which is my personal favourite? And more importantly, why?

Sting
Fer De Lance

X4 short range rails super pen (except one with feedback cascade)
1 huge rapid firing gimballed mc with corrosive.

This post is about why Sting is my favourite ship.
Very simple to fly. Turns on a dime. Engines sound is powerful.
But it's her stability using rails that l like most. No other ship is as good for railing, in my humble opinion.
She's fast, has to be her Short range rails only score hits within a km or 2.
Lighter and more reliant on her shields.
I had biweaves in but fancied a change fitting normal shields.
x2 scbs ensure she's well protected.
She can single volley kill small ships in a haz rez.
Against cmdrs she's devastating!!! Plenty of heatsinks to offset that horrendous heat those rail volleys give off. But seriously, 2 or 3 volleys its over. And all the while that sick mc chattering away softening the targets hull.
I don't care about ammo.
And she is sometimes refitted with an interdictor and biweaves for duelling and pvp.
It's hard to miss a volley close up. Sniping the PP ensures easy targeting indicator and a quicker end for the unfortunate victim.
A rated fsd and a scoop sometimes if she's out hunting in open for those pesky interlopers and fed/empire merit runners hehehe.
D rated fsd shielded if she's carrier based fighting locally.
Eventually I'll buy another and do an ax build with these new fancy modified plasma chargers.
But for now I'm very happy with my non meta lethal FDL.
My favourite ship

o7

Update Oct 22
Went with prismatics!
No scbs. But the extra hull armour sheesh..

Although i flew many, for many different roles, i think i like the courier best.
Speed, looks and cockpit ticked boxes for me but i'd a few different setups for different things.
I don't do the meta either but it will be a cold day in hell before i fly a FDL.
That ship is for humans, and usually the worst kind.
I would not sully my tentacles with it.

Proud owner of 47 A-rated, engineered ships plus the good ol' FC.

I can't pick a favourite, I can only pick the ship I would choose for a certain task. I can't even pick a favourite ship for something as broad as 'combat', because my reply would be ... which combat?

Threat 6-8 pirate assassination mission? Corvette.
Low RES site for massacre missions? Krait MkII or Vulture.
Higher-level RES sites? Vulture if in a wing, Corvette if solo.
CZ? Corvette

That's just combat. When you add all the mission types like 'fetch black boxes' (low threat I use a Dolphin, higher threat I use a Python) you can see why I have dozens of ships.

No love for the Mamba?

it's a fine ship (all frags + H Multi), Not my favorite, but my favs usually tend to be whichever of them i'm flying the most at any given time so, for the time being, the Mamba

The Type-7!

It's the ugly duckling of ships. It was born/designed to fail, but when you use it you realise it is a success, instead. Flies like a boss, it's so satisying to use, its looks mean business, and its quirks add to its charm, in fact.

I love it.
Has your T7 ever encountered a white dwarf? I've lost count of the numebr of times my T7 tourist wagon "Conestoga" has been eaten by white dwarves...beware...

But yes, it IS a nice ship to fly...

I have around 6 fully engineered pvp fdls.
And at least 100 extra grade 5 engineered modules exclusively for the fdls.

One of them is named Evelyn for a Commander's extraordinary daughter.

A pvp friend has 13 fully engineered FDLs. I'm just a scrub in comparison.

:)

I really like the Imperial Clipper as a large ship, the Phantom for a medium (just realised after typing about the last few words!).

Hands down #1 favourite is the Corvette, it's a nice ship to fly, not too - anything (slow, fast, sluggish, twitchy etc).

The Cobra MkIII comes a close second, again a really well rounded ship & I get the impression the game is balanced around the CIII ;)

Of the other ships I've flown recently probably the Chieftain, but it's a distant 3rd to the two above, there are lots of ships that are really good.

I couldn't get on with an FDL so set up a corvette when I chose to go for the combat rank, and I absolutely love it.
It makes up for my low combat skill by being well shielded and is maneuverable. Obviously this is for PvE.

My second favorite ship is the Cobra MKIV. I started using it for visiting planets in odyssey (to find life, scavenge etc) in an effort to at least make use of it, but I've come to love it - it won't beat my starter cobra for nostalgia but I only use that for 'ceremonial' duties now.
