Your Opinion Please...

In the past I have always engineered Power Distributors for High Charge capacity. My reasoning was that it is better to start with a higher capacity and thus maintain the charge in engines, systems and weapons longer at the beginning of a fight or escape from one than have to recharge them when they run down. Depending on the fight, what I am fighting etc I manage overall charge level by just stopping shooting or disengaging for a bit, etc.

But after 4 years I am starting to wonder if that reasoning is sound. Maybe the ability to recharge fast is more important; maybe.

I'm a macro guy - in my real life work and in games. Details are just not my forte' and in fact annoy the hell out of me. Running the numbers and the math behind games is too much like work (which seems strange even to me because math is pretty much what I do IRL most of the time) but some of y'all love that kind of stuff. So I'm asking y'all - overall what is best? A charge enhanced or capacity enhanced power distributor and what experimental perk is recommended for each choice? And why...

My choice is charge enhanced all the way, because doing damage in the game means converting energy from the PD. The more energy it produces the more damage you can deal.

My choices have always depended upon what purpose my ship has. I’d say roughly 70% of my ships have an engine focused distributor, because they’re not designed to fight anyone. Most don’t even have weapons installed. For those that may see combat, I’ll generally go with charge enhanced, because IMO a faster recharge rate makes more of a difference in the long run than a larger initial resevoir.
