Your Pilot's Background (ED:RPG)

While we have a sneaky preview of the almost released ED:RPG, of course the hardest thing was picking the right background for our character.

You have to choose 4 backgrounds (note some take up two choices). Captain Pendragon was Born on the streets, Freedom Fighter and Police Officer. but, I want to know who YOU are...?

How many people do you need to play? If only two, might have to get it and see about a weekly game night with my mate.

It's a pen&paper RPG, so it lives from players and their characters hating on each other :D IME two (DM and one player) can work, but lacks that whole dynamic.

I'm just in that for the rulebooks with lots of tasty lore.

You can play it online? How? I thought it was like, a physical board game?

As you can tell I have no idea how it all actually works, but I really want to get into it. :)

Now if you want, please imagine EDRPG game rooms integrated in E:D where people can sit their holo-mes down for a good round of traditional pen and paper.

It's a tabletop RPG, like Dungeons and dragons, or Pathfinder. No boards required, just some dice and some character sheets. We have a crew currently on a pathfinder campaign over skype, and there are online dice rolling programs you can use. As there's no boards required, online can be done (relatively) easily. :)

Since I have lost my D&D dice years ago... I used Excel to generate the randoms :D

Mine says "Frontier Trader" and he specialises in "pre-loved pre-owned spaceships"

Interesting, I was hoping for an 'Alliance Homeworld' option but the main PC I'm thinking about is from Leesti, so High-Tech Homeworld will do. He joined the Army to get away from the stifling tech-obsessed culture and to see a bit of the galaxy but got into a number of hairy scrapes. Eventually a campaign went badly wrong and he was lucky to escape from his final mission alive and he brings with him his Partner who was heavily traumatised by his injuries. The pair of them both suffer in different ways from the stress of battle but my PC looks after his war buddy through thick and thin, knowing that he had been Born on the Streets and had nothing to go back to after being invalided out of the army. Together they are trying to make their way as miners, peacefully and quietly living and working in space. Only the peace and quiet side doesn't always work out!

Or I can roll randomly and try and create an interesting character with the results!

I have forty years of Traveller material stacked up, thank you. :)

Me: Fed fighter pilot, court-martialed for catching a superior screwing up. :) Sorta like RL....
