My top 10
1. Manned wolf: was one of my top contenders for a long time and never knew they existed until getting on the forums.
2. Red fox: love canines and added a rep for NA and EU.
3. Axolotl: So far the final basic exhibit critter and was highly requested.
4. Wild water buffalo: while I was betting on Guars, this was a nice alternative.
5. Prezwalskis horse: so needed and requested.
6. Emu: a missing animal that just had to join the game.
7. Egyptian fruit bats: a big surprise and the first WE. With their flying and ability to use WE it makes a lot of us wonder what will come next.
8. Nine banded armidillo: needed a rep for southern USA for a while now
9. Platypus: the first sign that Australia has not been forgotten and first of more to come.
10. Red cranes: love cranes, was hoping for sandhill but this is a nice surprise.
Honorable mentions
Common wombat, wallaby, schimitars, Amur leopard, butterfly’s, striped hyena, caracals
Not so much
Raccoons, striped skunks, spectacled caimans, Nile lechwe

10. Nile lechwe: even though it didn't add much for the diversity, I still think this was one of the best inclusions for an antelope we could have get. It's a endangered species, which is found on a regular base in zoos and is still little known on a general level. It is also a member of a sibfamily we didn't had prior its release (which wasn't the case with the two other antelopes).
9. Siamang: the only primate we got this year and definitely one of the best looking animals we've got in game! Why doesn't it rank higher? Because I'm really not a big fan of how they climb, the knuckle-walking just feels very off. On the other hand, I'm happy with how the brachiation was implemented, of course it would have been even better if they could do this on all climbable pieces, but I get that there are some technical limitations. But I also belive that there should be more options, maybe more natural looking ones, with ropes and wood, that alow them to brachiate.
8. Przewalski's horse: this was honestly a surprise. I wasn't too excited for them and honestly, they weren't even on my wishlist, but they grew on me. The model and animations are awesome, I really hope that one day the zebra gets an uptade with those animations too, would make them a lot better.
7. Maned wolf: that's another species I wasn't too exited about that one either, but actually, it's the first canine I really liked the inclusion.
6. Nine-banded armadillo: this is another species that wasn't at my wishlist at all, but I'm still amazed by how it looks. I still would have chosen another species, but you can't always get what you want.
5. Small clawed otter: the giant otter was one of my biggest wishes since the launch if the game but I definitely thought that a second otter would be a good option. Frontier did a nice job on the model, the animations and the sounds.
4. Emu: I was expecting more birds for a grasslands pack, honestly. And that's still my biggest criticism on this pack, it should have been taxonomically a lot more diverse. But the emu is a great animal, that was really necessary for our Australian zones/zoos.
3. Butterflies: this definitely brought the exhibits to a next level, and I'm afraid that Frontier won't be able to keep up with this. Every exhibit with fewer than 5 species will be kind of underwhelming (speaking of the). It was the first time I really cared for a exhibit and am a bit exited to see what will come next.
2. Capybara: another essential, that I was really disappointed when we didn't got it in the South America Pack. The wait was absolutely worth it! I don't think we would have gotten the diving behavior if we would have gotten it then, nor all this amazing animations.
1. Red crowned crane: maybe a strange pick for a first place, but for me this is specially a symbolic pick. We need more birds! Not just flying ones, there are so many nice species that would do absolutely fine without an aviary (which by no mean means that they should be kept this way in real zoos). Frontier showed that they are capable to make some great birds and this one is, so far, the best one! I'm also a very big fan of the species, which also has a strong connection to reintroduction programs and a very recent recover of the population.

  1. Emu - Absolutely essential for any Australian section - it's inclusion, along with the simultaneous addition of the Red-necked wallaby retrospectively made all the Australian animals previously added 1000% better and more usable as well as adding to the most under-represented continent.
  2. Red-necked wallaby - Almost as essential for Australian sections as the emu, only losing out because we at least had one macropod in the game already. In combination with the emu made Australian sections viable and, therefore, improved all the other Australian animals in the game.
  3. Asian small-clawed otter - A zoo staple and one of my favourite species. At home in almost any zoo and executed well.
  4. Red-crowned crane - We need more birds and this was a great choice. I just wish we got more!
  5. Siamang - Another zoo staple with great audio and brachiation adding a lot
  6. Common wombat - A super-cute addition to the severely lacking Oceanian roster.
  7. Butterflies - I've wanted a butterfly house since the beta. Love their addition (though I wish the WT Enclosures weren't so tall and it was possible to change the path a bit more.
  8. Maned wolf - Such a great model and a unique addition, despite being 'another canid'
  9. Capybara - Super cute and common in zoos.
  10. Egyptian fruit bat - Like the butterflies, added new opportunities for creative builds.
  11. Caracal - Nice to get. A lovely cat.
  12. Scimitar-horned oryx - An important conservation story and at-home in lots of zoos.
  13. Platypus - A great addition to increase the oceanian roster and one of my favourite all-time animals. Would have been much higher in the list except that the insane space requirements make it impossible to create an even marginally realistic enclosure outside of sandbox.
  14. Przewalski's horse - same comments as for the Oryx, above.
  15. Spectacled caiman - It was disappointing to get a crocadilian that didn't add much to game-play. Makes it this high on the list because it is much better than the dwarf caiman in every single way.
  16. Nile lechwe - Great model, cool animal
  17. Striped hyena - Good to have
  18. Raccoon - Good filler with lots of personality
  19. Wild water buffalo - Great model and I can easily treat it as a domestic one if I want.
  20. Nine-banded armadillo - Nice filler
  21. Red deer - Happy for those that wanted it and love anything free but didn't add all that much to the game.
  22. Striped skunk - cute. Nice filler which is always good.
  23. Blue wildebeest - Meh
  24. Danube crested newt - Meh
  25. Amur leopard - Another endangered large cat from NE Asia and, so, didn't add much to the game.... Would have much preferred the Persian Leopard.
  26. Red fox - Happy for those that wanted it, but for me it's an invasive species that doesn't have a place in the zoos I build.
  27. Axolotl - meh

I am just putting Habitat animals on my list:
1. Amur Leopard
2. Emu
3. Caracal
4. Asian Small Clawed Otter
5. Platypus
6. Capybara
7. Nine banded Armadillo
8. Nile Lechwe
9. Common Wombat
10. Siamang

Here's my go at it:
10. Common Wombat - Absolutely adorable.
9. Asian Small-Clawed Otter - They're more common in zoos than giant otters. Plus, they take up less space than them. Being cute is a nice plus as well.
8. Striped Hyena - If you've ever grown up with Zoo Tycoon 2 as I did, you'd understand why I wanted this animal that was featured in its African Adventure pack. I can't wait to use them more often.
7. Przewalski's Horse - I have a bit of a soft spot for them as well. They were also part of Zoo Tycoon 2 in their Endangered Species pack.
6. Egyptian Fruit Bat - The Walkthrough Exhibit was fun to experiment with when I first started using it. I eventually ended up putting them in the catacombs beneath a castle in my zoo dedicated to the Twilight Pack: Nightfall Zoo (Please check it out. It's on the Workshop). The bats were fun to watch, and it was nice to work with their surroundings.
5. Capybara - Utterly adorable! I had been wanting them for a long time. Their use of the water spout wins me over as well.
4. Raccoon - I have two big reasons. First, I see them often here in Florida, and they're so cute! Second, I have a soft spot for very unique animal rigs. This one was pretty fun to watch.
3. Nine-Banded Armadillo - As I said, I love unique rigs, and this one was just more fun to watch than the raccoon.
2. Platypus - I grew up with Phineas and Ferb. I needed this. They're also very fun to watch.
1. Siamang - The animal that I didn't know that I needed. The brachiation animation is so much fun to watch! Also, A NEW PRIMATE!!!! They're oodles of fun, and I love experimenting with climbing structures.
