10. Nile lechwe: even though it didn't add much for the diversity, I still think this was one of the best inclusions for an antelope we could have get. It's a endangered species, which is found on a regular base in zoos and is still little known on a general level. It is also a member of a sibfamily we didn't had prior its release (which wasn't the case with the two other antelopes).
9. Siamang: the only primate we got this year and definitely one of the best looking animals we've got in game! Why doesn't it rank higher? Because I'm really not a big fan of how they climb, the knuckle-walking just feels very off. On the other hand, I'm happy with how the brachiation was implemented, of course it would have been even better if they could do this on all climbable pieces, but I get that there are some technical limitations. But I also belive that there should be more options, maybe more natural looking ones, with ropes and wood, that alow them to brachiate.
8. Przewalski's horse: this was honestly a surprise. I wasn't too excited for them and honestly, they weren't even on my wishlist, but they grew on me. The model and animations are awesome, I really hope that one day the zebra gets an uptade with those animations too, would make them a lot better.
7. Maned wolf: that's another species I wasn't too exited about that one either, but actually, it's the first canine I really liked the inclusion.
6. Nine-banded armadillo: this is another species that wasn't at my wishlist at all, but I'm still amazed by how it looks. I still would have chosen another species, but you can't always get what you want.
5. Small clawed otter: the giant otter was one of my biggest wishes since the launch if the game but I definitely thought that a second otter would be a good option. Frontier did a nice job on the model, the animations and the sounds.
4. Emu: I was expecting more birds for a grasslands pack, honestly. And that's still my biggest criticism on this pack, it should have been taxonomically a lot more diverse. But the emu is a great animal, that was really necessary for our Australian zones/zoos.
3. Butterflies: this definitely brought the exhibits to a next level, and I'm afraid that Frontier won't be able to keep up with this. Every exhibit with fewer than 5 species will be kind of underwhelming (speaking of the). It was the first time I really cared for a exhibit and am a bit exited to see what will come next.
2. Capybara: another essential, that I was really disappointed when we didn't got it in the South America Pack. The wait was absolutely worth it! I don't think we would have gotten the diving behavior if we would have gotten it then, nor all this amazing animations.
1. Red crowned crane: maybe a strange pick for a first place, but for me this is specially a symbolic pick. We need more birds! Not just flying ones, there are so many nice species that would do absolutely fine without an aviary (which by no mean means that they should be kept this way in real zoos). Frontier showed that they are capable to make some great birds and this one is, so far, the best one! I'm also a very big fan of the species, which also has a strong connection to reintroduction programs and a very recent recover of the population.
