Never heard (or seen) before this thread. Googled the face - never seen before. And after clicking a youtube link, am glad to have ignored his existence.

Try the TV series Black Books... he's in that..depends on your sense of humour if it's dark like mine you'll enjoy it.

Bill Bailey has been around since 1902

Didn't know who Bill Bailey was.
He must've appeared in the UK after I left in 1999.

Is he funny?

It's subjective, of course, but I'd say no - except in Hot Fuzz. His agent is also the agent of a musician friend of mine, and I have it on good authority that despite not being as funny as a lot of people seem to think he is, he's a thoroughly decent bloke.

First of all, and I hope this was clear, this thread was simply me spotting that Elite was on the yougov.co.uk website (a market survey website that attempts to highlight what sets the fans of things like celebrities apart from fans of everything else) and sharing the info. I'm aware of this website because Richard Herring refers to it with tongue firmly in cheek (as am I) when interviewing his guests. And let's not get into a whole new "who the hell is Richard Herring" discussion.

Anyway ... I have to say I'm genuinely surprised at how many people either a) don't know who Bill Bailey is or b) don't like him.

He's one of the leading lights of British alternate comedy from his generation, an extremely talented multi-instrumental musician (who typically litters the stage of his sellout big-venue comedy shows with music instuments which he incorporates into his shows), frequently appears on numerous panel shows and has parts in some of the best alternative sitcoms of the last 15 years or so including "Spaced" and "Black Books". Personally I find him very funny.

I'm so-so about bangers and mash, fickle? maybe, mean? definitely not (or at least I don't think so), optically farsighted and politically left of center.

According to a work colleague today I'm also quite passive aggressive. Sorry if that's ever the case. I must say this accusation came as a bit of shock to me so I'm going to be taking a long hard look in the mirror later on.

LOL

Did you ever watch "Spaced" (and if not, seriously, why not?). Bill Bailey played "Bilbo", the guy who ran the comic book store (and thought that "Babylon 5 was a big pile of sh:x:x").

And of course Manny in the brilliant "Black Books" ..

Um, no. To either. Maybe it's an "other side of the pond" thing? I'm a clueless American, I guess. But thanks for the education. :)

"I'm a clueless American"

Yet you managed to land on the moon or was the objective to reach Mars?

Can you be more specific what is your ancestral heritage.

Why don't more yanks play Elite?

Well I know lots about US but mainly what I was taught from her

I wonder what is she doing now. Is she Google maps project manager?

You are most welcome to come and spend your dollars in UK any time.

It is pretty bonkers (and slightly funny) that "we" have our own category. It probably isn't that wrong either. The demographic has always been from the 1980's or early 90's. We have seen quite a lot but are pre 1992 (the EU) and know that we can survive without it and are probably all doing ok financially. I love bangers and mash!!

I have to say though that you don't strike me as passive aggressive, certainly not in here.
