You're killing your own game, FDev.

I put a thread on this on the suggestions board about linking missions to status (combat/trade/exploration). I believe the status link to missions was removed and just ended up being faction rep instead, I'm sure someone will correct me if that's not the case. But also ensuring the missions matched the status. I won't repeat it all but the crux was that the mission difficulty should match status and the rewards should be comparable to that risk.

It must have been boring because no-one commented :)

Here are some answers:

Hi,

Just to make a quick note, mission rewards already take your relevant Elite rank into account. In fact they provide a much more considerable impact than is displayed here. Your Empire and Federation military ranks are not currently taken into account and that is something to think about. However, when doing so please consider what happens to the non Empire/Fed factions and the potential knock on effect to the BGS.

What I think your spreadsheets really show is the difficulty of getting one single system that deals with the 10,000 credit reward area (new players) and the 1,000,000 credit reward area. It's obviously not impossible but you start seeing how small increments have major effects.

Sure, I can't really comment on areas outside of missions and the BGS. In regards to the BGS the issue is that earnings are linked to rep/inf/states and that means that empire/fed factions would be at a strong advantage. If you remove even that as consideration, the idea that empire/fed players are able to earn more allows them to potentially support their faction in a way that a non emp/fed player would not be able to match.

However, I think that is outside of the area that you are wishing to discuss, I just want to clarify the difficulties I was referring to.

Rewards aren't the only elements of the missions that are impacted by your rank. A simple example is that the rank of spawned enemies will also be impacted by this. We don't want missions for harmless missions forcing them to take on Elite rank pilots!.

Missions do still have a recommended rank unless something has gone wrong.

Sorry for any confusion, it is the rank of the mission not the player, however the rank of the player influences what rank missions the player sees. Hope that makes sense and I'm not muddier the waters further!

Players can take missions of any rank, however, the missions they see will be scaled to be around their rank. This means that no, an new player should not being seeing Elite missions for some considerable amount of time.

You sound like my wife.... except for the part about mission templates.

Same here. Except I am not married. Just been with her for 20 years and have a child, but you know, I like to keep my options open.

Instead of jumping to bash someone for daring to talk about FDev fixing things, how about we discuss HOW they're fixing it by completely removing gameplay elements and making other money-making methods like bounty hunting more tedious?
Because there already 128.92 other threads discussing exactly the same topic. Mass hysteria, uber-exaggeration, and faux-outrage helps no one. Besides, virtually every point that can be made on the issue has already now been made in the numerous other threads. To be honest, I'm surprised the mods haven't done more to merge or direct people to existing threads.

We shouldn't push fdev to release so quickly, they had a month left before q1 was up.
As soon as fdev finished beta, community starts.... when when now now now....

We should have had more beta versions and allow fdev time before realise to fix issues. I blame us, and them for allowing us to push them

A list of things I have observed since Beyond released:
So... apparently passenger missions have been nerfed after they were "tweaked" after the whole Quince issue. Great. Passenger missions suck now. Boy, traveling dozens of thousands of light years for 5 million credits is such fun. Yes, I actually saw a mission payout with that number recently. No, I do not have a screenshot. I never bothered with those missions because it's just so much fun to go around a sun and hit the J key for over an hour. And then you have to go BACK.
BGS decided tons of skimmers needed to die. Whoops, new system backfired, better remove the skimmer missions entirely.
Whoop, mining missions started paying a bunch. Better remove those.
Reward system gives more rank advancement. Gee whiz, I'm sure data and donation missions are next.
New C&P kind of makes smuggling and assassination pointless.
Every time someone whines about dying in PvP, things get changed around to make PvP less viable. Man, staring at NPCs that do the same things and say the same things all day is such fun. Easy PvE is where it's at amirite?
KWS updated and- oh, look, bounty hunting is even less profitable. Hurray.
CGs never seem to deviate from the formula. There's a CG for truckers, and a CG for people that like to shoot things. Never anything else. And more people go for the shooty CG than the trucker CG.

I'm starting to expect ED to show up on the "[Game] didn't/isn't just die/dying, it was/is murdered/being murdered" video series. The new content's great. It really is. But what's the point of enjoying it if the very foundation for any and all game interaction is just one huge mess?

That's not a list.

I never found out if it's always new people who decide to leave or it's the same people leaving over and again. I should take notes, this time.

...And FD should install revolving doors so the people leaving won't hit the ones coming in. :)

Perhaps the same people with a new commander name at each update ?
