System Wide RADIO STATIONS - Music and Podcast 24/7 VHF
As beautiful as the in-game environment and the sound design is.... it does get kinda boring flying about in the vast emptiness of space... despite of the clear evidence of civilization within the system we are in...
Since radio was invented back at the year 1907 by Reginald A. Fessenden. Humans have been broadcasting radiowaves into the great black yonder. Travel 79 light years AWAY from Earth and you'll be watching Hitler give his opening ceremony speech during the 1936 Olympics.
I think in Elite , we should be able to pickup radio frequency on our ships and the computer will automatically compress the incoming waves and give us some GREAT music as we travel from system and system.
Each with their own flavour of music and propaganda.

This imo would add a WHOLE NEW dynamic to each region's individuality.
Who knows... maybe we can even have PLAYER RUN radio stations in high population systems , but of course as limited by the speed of light , live broadcast would be rather difficult.
