Youtuber frustration with minor faction applications

Recently cmdrs Plater, and D2EA have both had rants over the state of minor faction applications:

You can hear how genuinely frustrated they are, and I personally find it concerning that after a 6 month waiting period they are still being fobbed off an ignored.
D2EA makes the point that focus seems to be on micro transactions, and it's a sentiment that rings true when the Chieftain, still doesn't have a working interdiction reticle but already has a suit of cosmetics available.

I imagine one argument could be that they need to sell more cosmetics, in order to employ more staff to lessen the work load on what seems to be a pretty bare bones team at the moment. But that is pure conjecture, and one of the more positive spins when compared to D2EAs theories.

With so little communication, and such blatant disregard for the huge time sinks involved in the prep. of a home system for a minor faction, it begs the question. Do frontier really have any respect for their players time?

I would really hate to see the community lose characters like Plater and D2EA, but if you watch Down to Earth's vid above, he sounds done.
I'm sure if there were even anything remotely resembling competition for Elite, he'd have jumped ship by now.

Does anyone else find this concerning, or is it just more ranters ranting in your opinion?

The way I look at it is that most of the things are really just minor peeves and most of the frustration comes from the time we spend in the game.

Imagine a cat that ran across the road in front of you and forced you to brake. You think nothing of it. But if that cat is jumping in front of your car on the same road every morning for last couple of months, you will start genuinely hate that creature.

It's the same with Elite's flaws. All games have them, but you spend eight to fifty hours with any other game. These things slip from your mind. Not so much in Elite after you've played 4000 hours in last four years.

So although I do understand people's frustration and, naturally, it would be great to have these things fixed, all I have to say is: Just take a break, buddy. :)

Still it is concerning as I am trying to get my friends into playing this with me (both my WoT Clan mates & others) and would love to found a Player Faction of my own.

If there was Any Game with closely similar graphics and playstyle i would instantly leave. Lets be honest. SC is crap and Elite only survives cause it has no real competition. the only good thing in Elite is the costumer support.

The lack of any competition atm and no sign of any at the horizon is not a good thing imo. SC - I refunded this, new X game alto SP looks pretty good but its not ED Milky way... I would love someone to fill the gap.

minor factions have always been slow at being added just be patient theyll add it eventually they couldve also been denied of the minor faction if you check the player minor faction submission page you can see the list of the ones that have been denied or added

That has been my thoughts for a while, I've jumped ship to Warframe recently (I know not same genre) but I've been really enjoying myself, WF is an example of grind done right... yes there is a grind, but you have fun doing it.... not sitting for hours in super-cruise waiting for High grade emissions...

I still pop into the forum and reddit to see if there is any forward momentum.

I'm eagerly awaiting Beyond Good and Evil 2. I'm not saying I'll stop playing Elite, but that game has me really interested.

Let us know after first thousand hours how you find the grind.
I love Warframe, but I gave up after 300 :)

On top of that, WF doesn't nerf, they buff what's weak. That's the way to do it.

It presumably isn't straightforward to do better - even for bigger companies and budgets - or there would be some real competition by now.

It's actually quite surprising. Most of the time when someone manages to get a decent hit out of a genre, there's a whole bunch of imitiations and innovations from others pretty quickly afterward. There have hardly even been any failed competitors.

Either someone is keeping quiet until they're a bit further along ... or they've all taken a look at it and decided there are much easier and safer ways to make money.

Enough is Enough. I'm sick and tired of Fdev not giving a about the community and the players.
I have on several occasions over the last year been trying to get in contact with the community team and never even received a reply. Only when they need me to help promote a new patch or game can they reply.
The hole thing with Player minor faction was the straw that broke the camel's back for me.

Took us 9 months to get in game.

Just more ranting for the sake of ranting.

They've been told their minor faction is in the pipeline and waiting months is normal even when a giant patch hasn't just dropped and isn't being currently worked on. They've also been told the minor faction system is currently being altered. FDEV seem to be prioritizing the entire playerbase, as they should.

Asking nicely also helps, ranty sweary video man would go straight to the bottom of my priority pile. As if they give him a minor faction he's likely to be a constant pain in the bum about it.

I've only got like 15 or so ours into it so far, I'm not saying its gonna have epic longevity, but reading about Warframe's history... they've gone on an upward trajectory. you go on their forums and there is nowhere near as much negativity. on their other social media and youtube you are hard pressed to find much negativity (I've looked :D )

The reason I stated WF as my new game is because I'm looking for a new "Main game" cuz I'm a bit disenchanted with Elite at the moment, I'm of the mindset that I'll come back to it as a main game and spend money on it again when there is something like space legs or progress on making the game fit within the "elite dangerous.exe" window (not having to alt tab to find a gardian ruin/type of material etc)

If you have any suggestions for my quest for a new "Main game" I'll greatly appreciate, I would give Star Citizen the time of day if they spent more time on development and less on making the game into a documentary (not to mention their pay to win funding model).

I have been trying to ask nicely for 6 months. still no result. i have also on several occasions tried to get in contact with the community team, but they never reply. They only reply when they need me to promote something for them. the PMF thing was just the last straw for me. So keep in mind this video is the result of a lot a frustration over the last year.
