Last week I spent an embarrassingly stupid number of hours undermining systems for Zachary Hudson. I accumulated 10,040 merit points, and at the cycle reset achieved rating 5. When I went to the payroll window in AF Leporis, the clerk handed me a 1,000 CR check. I stared at it in disbelief. It appears Zachary Hudson has failed to make payroll and my efforts have been wasted. Who knows if he will payout the bounty bonus as well? Curse you, Zachary!

Payroll is not something in which there should be surprises. Are you saying that there is a week's delay in the payout? Is there also a week delay in the bounty bonus? I made this effort for the bonus during my extra play time over the holiday weekend.

Perhaps if people have the same question repeatedly, you should tell your masters at Frontier to stop schlacking off and make the information clearer so that grumpy vets like yourself don't have to see threads like this and take the time to post a useless comment.

Its not a weeks delay, its just that you get the paycheck at the end of the week and you get payd based on your rank and not on how many merits you have. At the end of this cycle you where rank 1 so thats what you got payed for, end of next cycle you will be rank 5 and get 50 Mil.
It's not immediately apparent that pay comes a week after gaining the rating, but the flipside is that you'll get another 50 mil the week after you drop from rating 5, if you ever do.
I'm one of the lucky ones who paid attention at rank 2, when I saw that it was a week late. I was expecting it at rank 5. It can come as a shock if you're not expecting it though.
In the meantime, enjoy the other rating 5 benefits, such as 100% bounty hunting bonuses in Hudson space and 50 free tons of fortification every 30 minutes after you pick the 50 up.

<edit> To be honest, 50 mil is peanuts compared to the BH bonus. You'll make way over that this week if you care to. I see the 50 mil as money to put back into fortification where needed. The bonus keeps my coffers filled. </edit>

Yes. I've found the easiest way is to open your left panel and look at the total listed bonuses there. Then open the contacts page and see what it says there. It should be double.
<edit> Any bounties left over from last week that are redeemable there should also be doubled. </edit>

Apologies, my statement wasn't directed at you, rather that the delayed payment of powerplay salary isn't well signposted in game or documentation - thus leading to the same thread, every damn week. By the way my sway with the masters at frontier is somewhat limited: For reference: Background sim problems and any kind of love for the alliance!
Confirmed. I painstakingly added up all my bounties (I have a lot of lines due to KWS), killed a ship and then re-added. The total was double the bounty received on the ship. Thanks again, MottiKhan. Perhaps I won't defect to Arissa just now.
If and when you do, let me know. I might defect with you and go for the railgun. We can wing up and do some 5c stuff for kicks while we're there. And then there's Aisling for those shields.
I have to admit i started last week, got my 10,000 odd merits and was a bit shocked by the lack of salary. Logged a ticket and they confirmed it's based on your rank at the start of the week, not the end.
They also said there's currently a rounding bug, so make sure you have at least 10,001 merits...
So.... Now that we've slaved for the bonus, is there a compromised Nav beacon anywhere in Hudson controlled or exploited space? I've a feeling We'll need to splash some cash on fortifying this week...

Payment is delivered at the end of the week (wed/thurs). Half of your merits will be spent in the maintaining of your salary (1500-750). Top off the merits to maintain your rank.
If no systems are in expansion, then delivering vouchers at 100 per hour will soon make enough for rank 4 while multitasking. There might be defensive operations somewhere as another option. They are not easily found.
The bonus to bounties applies also to combat zones, so combat zones could be played instead of security operations when the necessary amount of merits are secured.
Some are easier than others, and can be survived for hours, paying many millions. It looks like the bounty bonus is applied twice, and more like 400%.

I find combat zones are no where near as lucrative as compromised navs. The ships are too well armoured to drop them quickly.
Plus in compromised navs you can pick your fights (don't go in with a bounty or cargo!), and choose the bounties you want to go for.
Pack yourself a kill warrant scanner and head to 110 herculis. You'll need to pop over to Ross 733 to reload if you want a large pad.
