Zoo Layout Design

I'm so excited for the release of Planet Zoo that I decided to make a zoo map for my first franchise zoo. I've included every animal that has been confirmed so far according to the Planet Zoo Wiki Page Animals List. I've grouped most of the animals by continent, but some are grouped by biome or species. I didn't include any water because that will be easier to map out once the game actually releases. Any feedback is welcome. Thanks :)

Key: Green - Reptiles, Aqua - South/Central America, Yellow - Asia, Purple - Tundra/Snow, Orange - Africa, Red - Staff Path/Staff Buildings, Blue - Guest Facilities, Grey - Guest Paths

That looks like a fairly reasonable R/L zoo. :)

What did you use to set this graphic up? I would love to do a planning too! 😄

I used Paint 3D that came with Windows 10 Pro on my desktop computer. I mainly used the 2D tools to set the layout and used some vector images for the icons. Some people on Reddit have used Procreate on iPad and made some really cool designs as well. :)

It's a nice layout. The biggest issue I see is that I think the central exhibits might end up too far away from staff facilities. I'd try to fit at least a keeper hut or 2 in there.

Otherwise, in real zoo layouts, in particular more modern ones, you'll rarely find paths with exhibits visible on both sides. I'd consider where the sightlines should be and where to block the view with structures or plants. For example, you could use non-see-through walls on the outer side of the circular paths to have the people watch the animals inwards, you could add planters with bushes and stuff in the middle of the large straight walkways to limit the view to one enclosure at a time.

I agree. I’ll probably add another staff area or two for the center exhibits to make sure they are tended to properly. :)
