I think it really depends on your layout, and how many staff you have, and various other things going on, if they are trained staff or not, Ideally make sure you train them well, and use workzones, workzones are super important, don't ignore them. Make sure your not overcrowding staff with too many staff, I have seen a lot of people in sandbox mode just spam 100 staff in 1 spot thinking, if i have a whole bunch surely everything will get done, but that causes a lot more problems then it is worth, cuz if a person is gonna go to feed the tigers, then everyone else is like check to feed tiger oh someone else is checking ok wait ok they feeding tiger ok should i feed jag oh someone is feeding jag, someone is going to jag ok so lets check if- oh wait break time.

and so you end up with a long que for staff prompts and they end up getting exhausted trying to go everywhere and then just go on break and start over.
Another thing which is not staff related, animals get a yellow hungry debuff when their food stat is still in green, so it is a bit misleading like, oh my so and so is hungry when really it isnt its just going to be hungry soon, and in most cases staff is on their way already, also sometimes animals grow up in a spot where they cant be as adults but fit as babies and it causes them in some cases to get stuck and think they are either in a small enclosure or lonely or something, simply moving them to a more open spot in the enclosure usually helps.
