Zoopedia is a bit .. misleading.. on Elephant requirements

The Zoopedia states for African Elephants a Grade 2 Barrier. But in reality they just tear them up left and right! Either the zoopedia is just outright wrong and this has to be a bug?

I had the same issue I used a glass barrier and first thing they did when I added the elephants was run into it and break it in a split second... So I replaced all the glass by a grade 5 brick barrier, and as soon as I got the time run again they ran into it and broke it again... It's electrified now.

That is weired.
I never tried anything alse but a brick wall with windows for them, but i have both
African and Indian Elephants in my small grasslandzoo since 50+ years and they never had an issue.
(i made it 4m high... no clue if that matters)

I originally made it with wood in the back (because that was the theme in my Africa area) and steel wire or whatever it is called in the front for viewing and they just tore right through the wood and walked out. Which kind of bothers me for another reason which is why would they do that? I mean even if they CAN why WOULD they? They had perfect, and I do mean perfect, welfare.

Anyway, replaced the wood with concrete and now its good. But the Zoopedia shouldn't say Grade 2 if you need higher grade.

Having the same problem. So annoying! Had it too with the girrafes. It's says grade 2 but they immediatly burst through it. Had to make it concrete...

Interesting I had no problem with Giraffe. In fact that's what was in this enclosure before the elephants, using the wood and they never broke it. Wonder if the Grade 2 is correct but there is a bug.

I don’t know if this is helpful at all, but I noticed that animals get MAD if the fence welfare goes under 49%. No matter if the fence is perfect for them, the moment it gets a little used they will literally attack it again and again to tear it apart. I had this problem with elephants, bisons, giraffes and even antelopes.

For me, the solution was having a mechanic only working on fences to keep them well above green. I don’t know if it’s intended.

The welfare was almost 99% and I just put them in there, What seemed to fix it for me is to raise the barrier. I had made an electric fence to try and stop them (grade 6) and they still burst trough it (at 2m high). I made it 3 m and all of a sudden they stopped breaking out??

Hmm. I was thinking that grade 2 means just, you can use null barrier if you use a ditch or a moan or stones to keep the elephant inside. That's how real zoos do the trick at least.
