Zoos that cover the entire map / has every animal

Players who have built over a full map or play with nearly all species, can you post some pics of your mega zoos?!

I've been playing planet zoo for a couple of years now, mostly in sandbox mode as I like to spend most of my time building things.
I've never made a zoo that has every animal in the game or nearly all of them, and I have never made a zoo that covers the entire map yet (and actually played it).

Are most people building full maps and playing them?
Any other players like me, who are slow and spend more time building things?

I've built a few zoos that cover most of the map and they are not enjoyable to play with in the slightest since the performance is often so bad you don't know if it's going to crash the game or not. Making a map that has every animal in the game, meeting habitat requirements and the like is probably fiction as people who claim they have never post a picture of the zoo. The most credible every animal zoo had 90 something animals before the game crashed, most likely a memory crash from the high amount of ram/memory needed to process so many animals and calculations for those animals.

The largest complete zoo I have built is my woodland park zoo recreation covering 75-80 percent of the map with various small and large habitats with a total of 56 habitats. Performance is pretty awful, with animals it is 12-20 fps, without any animals it's more manageable on pause with around 40. I don't 'play' with these zoos though, I take a tour for my youtube channel, upload the zoo to the workshop and then move onto a new zoo.

Most people I can imagine don't build these huge zoos though, for most the skill or dedication required would take months to years if every detail has to count or they constantly change plans for new dlcs, reworking areas or play planet entrance instead of having a goal of a completed zoo. It's often a meme here on the forum that no one here has actually completed a zoo but only builds an entrance before making a new zoo.

I have build over all of the map, but its mostly just the surrounding area or background, the actual zoo just takes up like a 1/4 of the map maybe (well, will be when its finished) so this doesnt really count as a mega zoo at all.
I always try to put alot of detail in so my builds can get quite piece heavy and my computer isnt really high end either. So at this stage my zoo already starts to a little laggy even tho im only like 10 habitats in.
Therefore a true mega zoo with every or most animals isnt really anything i would be even able to do from a technical standpoint, not to mention that i would probably loose steam in the process and abandon the project. I have mad respect for anyone having the dedication for sticking to such a big project tho.
Not really sure what you mean whith "playing them"? Im here very much exclusively for the sandbox aspect, so building the zoo is playing them for me.

You get a like for not being flat map and working with the terrain.

I play with every animal ( well, still finishing them ) but, it is across multiple zoos. I did try at one point for a single world zoo housing all the animals - this was several dlc's back and I stalled at less than 50 species and 300 animals and 3000 guests due to the problems Captain Callum and I cannot play that zoo. It is solely used as an animal source, if I have problems on the trade centre and know I have that animal in that zoo.

I do play Franchise though, never Sandbox. So there could be a difference there. I play franchise to breed animals and distribute them across the network to other players. My MMO trading game so to speak.

Nowadays I make zoos that house around 20 species with the same starting letter(s) in habitats capable of housing maximum animals ( in case I don't get around to sorting them out when they grow up ). I'm almost finished with 2 zoos to complete, and then go through the new dlc set of animals and slotting them into their appropriate zoo. And for some, now that I have hit the 2 million mark money wise I can start spreading across the zoo with wide open green areas in between the large habitats. They're playable so far, and managing them isn't as crazy as the initial world zoo. And, only having a set range of animals to monitor means less headache and I know which zoo has what animal in case I need to make any specialist zoos.

If I am not building a new habitat I am managing the habitats or the trade centre animals from that zoo. And grabbing the odd cute screenshot for friends.

Just as an example - this is the current overview of my World Zoo. 26 habitats ( 3 now empty ) and 8 exhibits. Currently 138 ( if memory serves ) animals in there. In it's prime it could hit 300 animals with the number of breeding animals there at any one time. I would open it up, immediately pause and check the animals then unpause it to catch up and then quit.
And my current B Zoo - 17 Habitats and 5 exhibits with currently 170 animals tied to the zoo, 144 physically in the zoo. Quite playable. I haven't noticed lag issues, but it's definitely a more manageable set of animals to manage. I usually let it play while I build stuff ( currently expanding the zoo to the left ) but when alerts start popping up I pause it to finish what I'm doing and then handle the issues before letting it play again.

Haha!! no way... I didn't realise that entrance building had become a planet zoo meme, that's funny because of course i'm guilty of that. Though in recent months I decided to just build the shell of my entrances and come back to it later so that I stop spending all my time on entrances. I think one of the reasons people end up restarting a new build is because with every build we learn more and realise what we can do differently and better?
It's frustrating to know that the game will likely crash or have problems at full capacity but I'm so far off from that, it's a future problem ;) I might start thinking smaller scale with my future zoos now. Thanks for the insight!
Amazing zoo you posted also, car parks look great, very realistic looking from above! what animals do you have across the different areas? I'm particularly intrigued by the straight dark road or roof top centre? what is that!? Cheers :)

This is really cool and unique! what animals do you have in this zoo?

perhaps mixed species habitats are the way to go if you're looking to build an all animal full map zoo. You get like a pair of each and do as many multi species habitats as you can, that way the habitat count and overall animal count is lower.

Wow! You sound like you have a busy zoo! but must be fun! What are the major differences between your two main zoos?

I currently have 650 animals and 81 species in San Bernardino Zoo in franchise mode. Game runs at about 20fps with my new setup. 60 or so when paused. This is the most recent overview but it's a couple of months old now.View attachment 392061
Wow!! that looks so professional, you must be so happy with this zoo! Love that you have this graphic map to share so that we can see the different areas. what species do you have in the wetland area near food and drink (14)?

This is a great tip! thanks :)

Thanks, the theme is only displaying local and semi local animals, along side domestics and the occasional invasive ones. So currently i got red deer, wisent, raccoon, "eurasian" otters, wolves and beavers, ibex, swans, red fox, "mice and rats", goats, sheep, cow and an implied one for beech martens.

I have several main zoos.

Basically an Alphabet Zoo - Each zoo dedicated to animals beginning with the letter with usually an average of 15 species in them to make trade centre management that little bit more manageable.
A, B, C, DEF, GHI, JKL, MN, OPQ, R, S, T-Z

My specialist zoos are things like ..
Genetics Zoo - Where I try and make different variations of the animals with marked differences
Endangered Zoo - Where I try and breed the especially endangered animals
Breeding Zoo - Where I try and breed especially rare ( on the trade centre ) animals
But I rarely play those.

There are no real differences between any of the zoos though. I have a consistent set up process. It's only the animals and the guests that help me decide the layout priorities.
Other zoos I am considering are continent/biome zoos but I'll probably not do much there until my alphabet zoos are running significantly well.

I think one of the reasons people end up restarting a new build is because with every build we learn more and realise what we can do differently and better?
It really does help starting a new zoo, I've noticed that each of my zoos get a little better than the last by trying new or even just different ways of building.
what animals do you have across the different areas?
Alright 56 or so habitats across 11 distinct areas, this is a modded zoo but i will mention the substitute animals where needed:

So that's part of the adaptations building mentioned above, this is a metal clad middle roof section bordered by simple flat white roof blocks.
