Alright, here me out....I have a suggestion for an upcoming Frameshift live (based on my experience today). The team will take trade suggestions from the chat and, using in-game tools only and a reasonable profit target, have to find buy and sell stations. As a bonus, again with in-game tools only, they have to find services in various parts of the bubble. I'd watch it.

I'd rather watch paint dry.

the in game tools for market work quite well, occasional glitches aside.
knowing how they work and why they show what they show, when they show what seems off or wrong or inaccurate.
much of which is local faction/BGS related, as are missions.
going up against insiders would not be fair.

a totally random un-connected set of tasks to do, unrelated by game methods is also an unfair contest. the game doesn't work that way.
engineers and traders are a different story but shouldn't be a huge concern.
knowing rules and having experience makes the difference in any search for something.

easier to learn on your own in the game by trying things than it is to believe everything you read or see from others that are negative about it all.
10,000 cmdrs can't all be wrong can they?! - ofc they can
information overflow has made many newer cmdrs not even try anything new, only what others are telling them.

not to mention that the in game tools are always up to date, unlike any 3rd party site.

I logged in today for the first time in 4 months, haven't had the itch to play Elite as theres nothing for me to strive for besides upgrading my equipment which is too tedious to bother. Looking forward to update 14 but given the fact that i'm not going to do the loop to unlock guardian weapons (as its painfully boring and also too tedious), i feel its overshadowed a little bit by not having any weapons to fight them with. I was partially glad to hear the team are going to address this, i just hope they aren't too crappy and still manageable to fight thargoids with.

Okay, so you suggest e.g. Power Generators.
They look up Power Generators in the market window and find that it says "Export: Industrial; Import: All" and gives some suggestions of stations selling them
They fly to a nearby Industrial station and buy some
The market window there gives some nearby sell prices, so they pick the best one and go there to sell
Assuming the profit target is a reasonable one for Power Generators (1.5k/tonne would be fair given the normal price range on those goods) they make it easily
Repeat for the next suggested commodity.

What's the catch? Not the most thrilling stream since bulk trading is mostly flying in a straight line in supercruise for several minutes, but not exactly difficult either.

(I mean, sure, if you suggest Emergency Power Cells it potentially gets a bit tougher, depending on where they were docked to start with, but that affects about ten fairly obscure commodities and is still fairly easily solvable with in-game tools)

As a bonus, again with in-game tools only, they have to find services in various parts of the bubble. I'd watch it.
The service filter on the other hand definitely needs improvement, no arguments there.

(Especially since if you know the underlying criteria for the services, you can use other filters which do work properly to find most of them very easily)

The only requirement is they do it in open ;) I remember that stream Arthur tried to fly out of the station for several minutes and few failed attempts. This time they have to be ready.
Without going there this is my beef with ED, in whatever mode you should have some opposition based on location, BGS, player agency regardless of mode. Working correctly milk runs would be possible in high sec but for low pay, with the opposite true for dangerous spots. Although I push for open, CGs should have pirate NPCs dialled up to 12 (depending on situation obv- Aislings fish and umbrellas being a contra example) as well as its sexy twin Powerplay.

But then saying that FD would need to look at station drop zones (mainly to make them bigger and allow NPCs to roam, and take the slack from SC interdiction).

I mean, the point of the trading bit is just to prove the principle of profitability - a shield-tanked super-engineered FDL or Cutter with a class 1 cargo bay would be fine for that. For the average commodity it doesn't really matter if you trade 2t or 200t.

It would be interesting to see a time needed to get money to pay rebuy of the ship and its full price for different ship configurations :)

It would need to be a range of times for each ship related to where you play on the relaxed ➡️ grind scale.
