Community Event / Creation LAVE RADIO - A podcast about Elite Dangerous

typical man... its not the size or length that matters... yup heard that before!

It would seem, with podcasts, less is definitely more. Quite a few people have expressed a dislike of overly long episodes. Some people have requested we don't go over an hour (we always do!)

May I make a suggestion?
If you record lots of material ... maybe even too much material, like you have this time, and are looking to split the podcast ... and people are asking you to keep it to about an hour ... why not release them weekly?

So this time you release Ep 6 pt 1 ... and the next week you release Ep 6 pt 2
rather than Ep 6 pt 1 & 2 at the same time, and then we have to wait two weeks for more

Just a suggestion

I'd suggest just being more ruthless with editing. It always happens that everyone wants their say on a topic, but when you all end up agreeing on a point there's no need to hear everyone repeat the same thing. It can feel a bit mean cutting out other people's statements, but it can help keep things more concise.

What really helps for this is an independent editor who can judge how to balance the episode out. I'm not volunteering though, as I know all too well how much work it is :-/

In theory a good suggestion because it would enable us to have a week of and still put content out weekly.

However, the way the podcast is currently formatted in to sections, we'd have to decide what goes in to which part and it loses its "bitesize" appeal. Not sure if that makes sense.

We'll see.

Don't listen to them. I have a pause button on my player.

Can I have 10 Cr every time someone spells my surname wrong? ;)

Cheers,

Drew.

ps. WagAr

I did tell him, before you posted...;)

Lave Station Announcer 'Heather' and Ashoria ground control both require it to be spelled 'Waygar' to get the pronunciation right.

I'll extend your parking permit time instead, since you exceeded the hour by 52 seconds...;)

You could put those 10cr on a wager and win big Big BIG !!!!!

(sorry ... I had to do it, and I bet you've heard that one a thousand times already)

My bad I just copied and pasted from Johns write up on laveradio.com
We don't have a blame culture here at Lave Radio but...it was definitely John's fault!

Loved the broadcast and especially the humour between Allen and Drew during Writers Interview 005. Great stuff! :D

More please! ;)

Lave Radio Episode 6: Well Done John

Bumper episode released this week.

Although Fozza was concerned that we would have nothing to talk about, we produce the longest episode to date. The team discuss multiplayer groups and the seventh feature request update. We also talk about games, sport and swearing in the Elite universe.

Plus a few exclusive previews on the end and all your favourites :D

Direct link here.

some feedback
episode 1 was great new and fresh, episode 2 was intresting but i relised then that episode 2 was the same as episode 1, meaning you just gave your opinions on the recent Dev update and thus not realy giving me any new information, I did like the fake adverts as it broke things up a little but the episode ran for to long to remain intresting, and I didnt manage to make it a third of the way through with episode 3 as it was more or less the same as episode 2, I havnt listened to ep 4,5 and 6.

to be honest I would listen again if you done daily 20 min episodes. as you said

I imagine there are many who would love to have your podcast run longer, but its not for me.

Well, I'm afraid that's not possible based on the a) the information we have and b) our needs to have lives...lol. Perhaps a daily twenty minutes would work, but you couldn't record it every day without committing every day, else it wouldn't be responsive. I struggle with other Elite Dangerous and real life commitments as it is.

These things are always going to have their audiences and people have their views, just as other projects on these forums will have supporters. I would expect with your involvement here, you've access to nearly the same amount of information as we do. I'm sure you can find what you think is better conversation, but thanks for the thoughts.

i see your last episode ran to nearly two hours. i think that if i had kept up with the episodes, EP6 would be the proverbial straw for me.
