No plans to move.

Everyone should do the copy process now, cause later on it will not be the same.
Quite unfortunate they said they have no plans to stop the transfers and no deadline in sight, only to announce with one week prior notifications that transfers will stop and when they will resume, next year, they will not be as comprehensive as they are now

Thanks for the hint πŸ‘πŸΌ Then I think I will do the transfer now.

Currently I have only a Microsoft Surface with Ryzen 5, which would not be sufficient, but as I understand, I do not have to start the game for completing the transfer, right?

And: There is currently an offer at my local dealer:

AMD Ryzen 5 5500, Windows 11 Home, 32 GB RAM , 1 TB SSD , GeForce RTX 3060 12 GB

Would this be sufficient for 4K high details?

Thank you guys!

You can do the transfer now, and start playing later - sure, your progress on PC will be stuck at the date of the copy process.

Regarding performance, Unfortunately no.
Or better said, it depends on the target FPS.
I have no problems playing at 30 fps and i'm really comfortable starting with 45+ fps - but some cannot really tolerate to play with less than 60fps

For 4k high you'd need a desktop with at least an rtx 3070ti (and a strong CPU) to get consistent 40+fps on ground (in a ground CZ, the game can get cpu limited)
In space, you'd probably be good with an RTX3060, but it will struggle on ground in 4k
Dropping to 1440p could help

And if that is a laptop, forget it.
I run an Asus G733QS with Ryzen9 5900HX and an RTX3080/16gb, in 1080p ultra. And i usually get 45+ in a ground cz - but as i said that's perfectly fine for me.

Also, if you're dead set to play on 4k, if you have a good internet connection and you can get 40-50ms on Geforce Now, then paying for a 4k subscription on GeForce Now would be the cheapest way (20 Euro per month iirc) to get a full 4k experience.
You only need an NVidia shield Pro or any recent windows computer/laptop.
No need to invest 2k in a computer if you can get a good experience from Geforce now @20euro per month.

Thank you for your kind and detailed answer πŸ‘πŸΌ

Well, 1080p would be enough I think (Horizons on PS5 is 1080p onlytoo). But I will think about GerforeNow.

Wondering what to do with no CG and waiting for 29th?

So, I wanted to top up my Tritium this morning whilst wondering.
Topped up my PS FC (obvs EDH3.8), then thought to top up PC FC as well, but then I thought, if I top up using my PS Cmdr, I can transfer some wealth and top up at the same time!

Simple steps (similar to transferring Cr using alt FC):
In my PS Ship, buy Tritium at supply station for full price 53,000/T, fly to my PC FC where I set Commodities Buy Price to minimum price 2,586/T.
Sell 752T to PC FC and I transfer about 36MillionCr (in Tritium, not Cr), from my PS account to PC account.

I did this due to all PC accounts (apparently) being split on 29th to a Cmdr on EDH3.8(Legacy) and EXACTLY the same Cmdr (with everything the same) on EDH4.0(Live).

I myself, will be using EDH3.8 for everything I still want to do, due to better and smoother visuals - exploring, mining, discovering, etc, etc.
The EDH4.0 will be used for CG's/Storylline (only if it is at all interesting!)

Anyway, I hope I have interpreted this Legacy/Live split correctly. If not then I have lost nothing in any case.
If the whole bubble does not burn on 29th, I have excess Tritium to sell back at any Tritium buying station/FC.

Spec is slightly better than mine, the 3060 12gb is generally a 1080p card, so I game at that resolution with mine.

I had a quick look just now, I noticed a nice increase in HUD clarity by going in to the game's graphic options, expanding the "Graphics" menu at the top of the list and then selecting 1920x1080 as the resolution. Can't recall what the defaults were, but I reproduced the problems I had yesterday if I selected other values.
I fiddled with the settings at the weekend, I could reproduce the original problem if I changed the game resolution but didn't find any other settings that affected it. I can only suggest rechecking that the TV, Shield TV & game resolutions/refresh rates are all in line.

My game's graphics are set to Ultra, and on the Shield TV the display is set to AI enhancement - Mid (the default), and on the same screen GeforceNow enhancement is On. Fiddling with these settings didn't make any difference for me, but thought I'd include them for completeness.

From the way it looks, Frontier is finally going to kill PC and XB. So many of my friends from around the world, are not moving. It is a sad time for everyone, and we are full of questions. I have exported my account, but every time I play on the computer, it is just a pain in the butt. It is just one problem after another. Because I am so angry, I am thinking hard about creating another account, form some type of ex console squadron and just kill everyone on sight.

Please don't do the last bit and hope against hope that "legacy" mode isn't empty and soulless! 😯 ...

Indeed the launch of Odyssey update 14 which is supposed to cut us off from Galnet, CGs and the "live" server is more than 3 hours behind schedule - I have a feeling that actually cutting us off has proven more difficult than expected and MAY not happen at all or at least not today or until the next update!

Anyway, only time will tell and indeed as alluded to, we should stick together and try to enjoy "legacy" mode as much as possible if and when it comes and MAYBE just maybe, if enough people stay playing "legacy" mode, it'll convince Frontier not to give up on the console versions and actually release the game in full on next gen consoles and everything that they can on last gen consoles!! πŸ˜―πŸ€žπŸ˜€πŸ€˜

Well its finally done. No Galnet at all on PS and PC 3.8 (assume XB also).
I am glad though that they have at least given everyone the required virtually offline mode as demanded at EOL of the game, with a small online update to the galaxy with your Legacy play contributions to Exploring/BGS/etc.

I can only talk to players in my local system and not to the Squadron. I hope that this is a bug and not just another feature to drive players away. I feel bad for new CMDRs, because INARA does not work anymore and that hurts everyone. Good luck trying to find anything to make money. I still do not understand why the game is still for sale if they are trying to kill it. Imagine that you have YEARs into this game and then you see it destroyed. It's a sad time.

Indeed, hopefully eddb.io still works, that's the site I always used, although I've much less reason to use it anymore now that we won't be involved in CGs! 🩲 ...

Would it kills the Devs to, at least, give us our own CGs and Galnet?! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ˜€πŸ€˜

This is still the listing on PlayStation Store:

In a way I'm kinda glad that my PS4 account (my main one with 12 bil + Fleet Carrier) is on the legacy servers. From what I've heard about the latest update I'm not particularly interested in a Thargoid war and just want to carry on exploring / trading / mining in Elite. I play it to relax these days and battling Thargoids is not my idea of relaxation!

It's just the whole "how long with legacy servers be supported?" question mark hanging over us that sucks. Oh, and the loss of CGs, that will be a sore one, some of my best modules were earned in CGs.

Indeed I've been wondering why there hasn't been any (seeming) resistance from Sony and Microsoft that they continue to sell the neutered game that Elite Dangerous "Legacy" mode now is!!

Surely they should have insisted that Frontier, AT LEAST continue to include CGs and Galnet in the mode and continue to add a significant amount of content every year, if it's still to be described as a "live service" MMO, and still sold as such on their online stores!!

Someone could easily report them for false advertising! πŸ˜‚πŸ˜―πŸ©²πŸ˜€πŸ€˜

It's still retailing for Β£19.99 on both stores too. Imagine how you would feel if you bought it nowadays!

Certain LG smart TV's have GeForce Now too. Mine is one of them & it works a treat, no extra hardware other than the controller that I borrowed from my cheap emulation box.

The console sales blurb is still pre-legacy too:

A Living Game
Elite Dangerous grows and expands with new features and content. Major updates react to the way players want to play and create new gameplay opportunities for the hundreds of thousands of players cooperating, competing and exploring together in the connected galaxy.

If so, they should really get rid of the hype regarding the console version.
The Legacy state should be easily visible and it should be explained that no content updates are to be expected

Edit: unless the major feature revamp next year is a PS5/XBSeries version of Elite πŸ˜‚

This was my hope also cmdr, but my 2020 LG TV doesn't have it, just hoping that they add it, otherwise I might have to get a Shield TV. I'll be paying much more attention to those LG TV software updates now!

I'm still hoping for Frontier to "see sense" and release the game in full on "next gen" consoles! πŸ˜―πŸ˜€πŸ€˜

To add to and some of what I've said in other threads...

I think Frontier were being way too strict about what was acceptable for Odyssey's performance on consoles - it's really strange that they never released any videos or had any public alphas or betas so we could decide for ourselves whether it was good enough or not!

I was watching TheYamiks review of the Steam Deck and even though Elite isn't officially supported, he said the base game was totally playable on the system and though he said Odyssey wasn't playable, again his standards are too high when he generally builds high end PCs...

In one clip, he showed it running at 37fps, which is totally playable, as is anything over 30fps really πŸ˜€.

While he said the system was "only" about as powerful as a PS4 😯...
(We don't all need games to run at 5000 FPS to be acceptable! )

If that's the case, the PS5 will surely run Odyssey and 4.0 in its' sleep, (even at the 60fps that some people damand, not that I and I'm sure most people notice higher frame rates at all πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚)while especially with some much needed optimisation, surely it should still be playable on PS4, but even IF we say it's only good enough for the PS5, Frontier should AT LEAST release the game in full on "next gen" consoles - They must hate money as all I and many others want is the game on PS5!!

While even if "legacy" mode only were to receive SOME new content, it would still help retain existing players, while attracting new ones, but of course it hurts that the Devs are ignoring the potential of the new consoles so much!...

Really you'd wonder why Frontier didn't split their development team, while hiring more staff were necessary, so one team could focus on the specifics of PC development while the other could focus on the surely easier task of continuing to develop the console versions?! .

Particularly a lot of PC developers and PC players, tend to dismiss consoles for their "locked in" nature, but that is one of their biggest strengths, that you know a consoles' exact specifications and what it's capable of - they always punch above their weight, defining their on paper specs!

Classicly consoles were devoting 100% of their power to running games, while even though newer consoles are more multimedia focused, they still devote 95% of their power to running games, I'm sure with a little more effort and likely with a more console focused second team, they could do wonderful things on "next gen" consoles and still more with the "last gen" consoles!!

In short, I never lost faith in what consoles are capable of (which they have partially proving playing "legacy" Elite as it is πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚), HOPEFULLY they "find" their faith and confidence in consoles again and actually let us play the games' new content!! πŸ˜―πŸ˜‚πŸ˜€πŸ€˜πŸ€ž
