Question about the body variants of the new update

"Ensure your prehistoric species are as awe-inspiring as ever, with new 2022 variants for each of the following:

  • Allosaurus
  • Dimorphodon
  • Iguanodon
The Iguanodon 2022 variant will also be getting 12 new body colours and 7 new patterns - we can't wait to see what you do with them!"

"Alongside this, the Kentrosaurus 2015 and Ouranosaurus 2015 Variants (both from the Camp Cretaceous Dinosaur Pack), as well as the 2022 Variants of Dreadnoughtus and Giganotosaurus from the Dominion Biosyn Expansion will each be getting 12 new body colours and 7 new pattern colour options, and you'll now be able to view a Body Variant selector in the genome editor and Species Viewer for these species."

My question is the following: will the variants of pteranodon 2001 and brachiosaurus 2001, and parasaurolophus 2022 also benefit from this?

let's be serious 5 minutes, they are clearly variants, not skins. there is a huge morphological difference between the 2015 pteranodon model and the 2001! looks like different species
I'd assume the difference is "variants" have major changes, like different animations and sound effects, where as "skins" are just reskins. Regardless, the 2001 Pteranodon is counted as a skin, not variant, and therefore does not receive any new colors... this was confirmed by Jen in the Malta DLC thread...

Thought so... while I got your attention, is there a reason why skins aren't getting the recolor options?
Unlike Variants, skins aren't a significant change in dinosaur design (like I described Variants above). They're a new cosmetic skin, and so we don't have plans to add additional colouration options for them.

Regardless of what plans there are, I will say that, I for one would still love to see the JP3 Pteranodon be classified as a variant and have extra skin colour options for it. The same goes for many of the other JP1 and TLW designs as well as the JWD Parasaurolophus.

Also the JP3 Brachiosaurus and JP3 Ankylosaurus... they're in there, right? I don't have the game yet...

Yes they are in the game. The JP3 Brachio, sure I guess. But the Ankylo is barely different. Regardless, I'm not a fan of either design, so I don't really care about them.
