Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I often wonder and then I find out some players literally haven't played anything else than the thing they keep droning about. Is also true about ED. You could say I'm a somewhat unsteady player, rarely sticking with one thing, but playing nothing else than a single game - it kinda disqualifies any opinion about "games".
And then, of course, there's the crowd who are easily impressed by good looking graphics. IMO, good graphics are easy but expensive. Good gameplay is cheap but difficult. Give me a good sprite-based game anyway… to play on my expensive computer. ;)

As AA quoted above,

On a related note, Dwarf Fortress has released on Steam. Urge to pull the lever rising.

I did it out of principle, considering how many hours of free entertainment I've got out of DorfFort

The only snag is that Ci~G have been promising that very same 'just around the corner' UI function since mobiglas was introduced in 2017 ;)

Mobiglas was supposed to open or close habitation module doors, lock or unlock individual doors or compartments on ships...act as an alarm/immobiliser/crew authorisation system for ships as well as function much like an in game mobile phone...none of which has appeared to date...even slightly 🤷‍♂️
Fully agree, its the thing we've touched on in our chats over the years in the various iterations of this thread.

It's not that these things aren't achievable (as I say, once I remember how to mod it if you gave me an hour I could punt out a .sqf or config that could do it in ArmA) it's that they're not given any priority, because they know its an easy to achieve feature and would rather put it on the backburner in favour of the next spaceship.jpg thats going to bring in 4 digit figures per purchase from the less sensible parts of the playerbase.

Just want to highlight an absurd thing I stumbled on for the latest vid.

Scaling the module access for small ships isn't possible currently. (The experiment they did on the Gladius, adding panels externally, came with significant performance costs etc...)

(Can totally imagine the poor Art team fighting their way through the proposed LoD improvements etc, ship by ship, to claw back enough performance headroom, only for some Chris-inspired present of ray tracing or whatever to drop, and for a load more calibration to be required )

Lol 😁

They said they are 'getting closer' in the ISC about Galaxy, so within the next 8 years we should have something.. probably Retali-Later part 2.

RSI's dev affiliates...
Did he referred to the good old days when Chris the perfectionist genius wasn't coding himself but most of the game was in hands of external contractors that could have made a game sure less fidelicious but more tangible, until Chris the visionary manager ruined everything?

By the way the whole 'RSI, but CIG in fact, but CI in the end' mess always bugged me, from the very beginning of the project's announcement.
