The circle spins another turn...

im a concierge, and ive spend 15 bucks between the last 2 iae's. Even that 15 feels like too much. Marketing and theory crafting after a few years starts to take its toll. When i came in, there were some salty concierges and i were like meh, and here we come full circle and im the salty older backer. What angers me is that cig is making more and more money for very little progress. on a list so much were added but after 12 months loading into the pu, without glancing at the list , the experience is the same as 12 months ago. i am at the point that i feel stupid for believing their bullcrap....and it is bullcrap a lot of the time. Some sc youtubers i simply cant listen too without a massive cringe....and it almost feels like they push propaganda. (source)

The circle spins another turn...

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again.

It seems like this is how the whole thing works.

Old backers are forgotten, or deemed to be salty or irrelevant, as the new backers come in and start splurging. They think the marketing is right while those who have been around for years are in the wrong. Its all in the past, the future is now, buy now, and all will be glorious in the not too distant future, and then it isn't, and the new backers become old backers, and they are dismissed by the new-new backers, and so the cycle continues.

The circle of life money

The same possible-dev who shared gossip about SQ42 departures commented on this bit of Agent gossip:

  • an absolutely staggering amount of man hours and monies have been spent on SQ42 cutscenes, with "over a hundred million dollars" spent and a "majority of manpower dedicated to finishing them"
  • while this includes filming, actors and the studio, the biggest portion has been spent in post production
  • a new Chinese firm has begun to help with these scenes, outsourced because Turbulent couldn't "find enough butts to fill seats"

They reckon:

So, from what I know of CR has looked around for 3 shops to help him with cinematics.

I can confirm 2 of them have rejected, not because of insufficient budget, rather due to a stupid scope in terms of unknown delivery.

One of them is a Polish studio and the other from the UK.

From my understanding, the Eastern studio Val mentioned has jumped in to help PURELY on motion graphics related aspects (see the stuff that they presented some time ago that looked cool in game)

They go on to say:

Another serious tidbit of information. Don't be surprised if CR involvement becomes less prevalent and new people come into the front scene purely for protection.

No he won't cash out yet regardless of "suspicious" dividend/share movements, but in my genuine opinion considering the bad rap that SC artists are getting on recruitment to get hired properly if they decide to leave the project, considering they have nothing to show off, I am conscious should it reach the billion dollars funding, there will be a larger outrage from the 3D community which will lead to potential consequences.

Ask anyone around and they will all tell you one thing. Game can come out but current mid and upper management needs out.

Take with your preferred condiment :)

Oh and to plunge fully down the rabbit hole of dodgy gossip there's this...

full disclosure i'm not anyone special in the company so sorry if my answers are crap.

1 - [Regarding SQ42] I'm not sure to be honest, i'm not a part of that dept, breakroom talk from what i've heard is that its maybe about 80% finished. the majority of what's left is bugfixing and such, but the game/story locations and missions and stuff are all built.
2 - server meshing and PES implementation (also gen12 rendering) is the reason that this years only seen a single major patch, don't know if its going to be a cure-all but there's a LOT of faith in it internally. rest assured it will be a bug riddled mess when it gets out the door because there's no way we can put our test environment under the load live servers are on, it's going to be fly-by-wire for a bit on patching when the crap goes live.
3 - Croberts doesn't micromanage from what i've seen, he's got a lot of ideas, but there's an approval process for stuff so i guess he's sort of kept in check if he wanted to try doing that. but crap its his company so maybe not.

1 - We're looking for ways to make the reclaimers salvage handling not be boring as crap, I don't see why you couldn't use it to explore places but... in some far off point in time where exploration actually has some value in the game, it won't be as good as ships like lets say the carrack, with dedicated scanning arrays and cartography room. the general consensus is after PES and server meshing get done we would finally be able to work on exploration and other careers.
2 - the answer to whether it will be fun or not that would be subjective, from what i understand the microtech citcon stuff still exists but hasn't gotten a proper implementation because everybody is waiting for server stability to not be so , its tough to isolate genuine bugs from desync and such,

And this later follow up:

actual multicrew elements are planned to be expanded upon after the flight model gets redone for the thousandth goddamn time 10 years in, the master modes being implemented is inteded to be the final (subject to change because thats how this place rolls) pass for how combat and other stuff flows, from there it'll be relatively smooth sailing to implement situations in combat using location-based damage where it's 'all hands on deck' and people have to maintain the ship

>please emphatically support the idea that not just ships but 99% cosmetics will be available to unlock in game, not requiring purchase. Also, stop selling any ships/other stuff directly by launch/end of wipes

im with you 100% on this one but those decisions aren't in my hands to make. It's actually infuriating how much there is being done for both SC and SQ42 but we can't show off, because the drip-feed of content is intentionally paced to maximize profits.

Aside from that there's also an apparent evo guy saying ePTU 3.18 is a mess, guys 'holding' CCUs, my Retali vid, and the usual 4chan horror...

This really isn't good news is it, the final 20% takes considerably more time than the initial 80%. This could still be years away from release.
