We are winning, the tide has turned HIP 23716

Good on you. This is not Crusader Kings tho.
People are so used to "winning" they moan on this forums for endless pages how insufferable a rebuy is.
If you really think players aren't running away if they can't have at least small victories, I have an Anaconda to sell to you at Hutton Orbital.
Yes and as I said, war isn't meant to be easy.

I've also said things will get easier and rebuys won't be as common. The new turreted AX weapons for example seem to be really good against the smaller Thargoid ships and they're also easily available at Megaships and don't need a grind.

Too darned right!!!!11one111!!!

I've lost 6 ships to them danged Thargoids in the last week... Why a couple of them even cost me more than a million credits - totally unreasonable, they should all pop as soon as I deploy hardpoints! 😤
It cost me over a million to transfer my T-9 out of the bubble to Pencil Sector EL-Y D5. I did it because I fear Shinrarta Dezhra isn't safe. I'll be going back to the bubble but my ships will mostly be staying out of it.

How weird that war has consequences? 😜

I'm fortunate that I have a FC so all of my fleet are on-board.
I remember going to Colonia to help out with "Operation Montgomery-Scott" with 2 billion credits - deciding to stay for a while (3 years, I think) and spending that amount on transport costs - and still had to fly my Cutter and Corvette manually from the bubble to Colonia as they would have cost over a billion each to transport!

There's no such thing as influence decay. Reputation decay is slow and doesn't really matter most of the time, plus I think it only happens for superpower-wide rep (so even more inconsequential).
What I mean is that the influence is different between low % and high % factions- its easier to save a faction from retreat and harder to push high % factions higher. In the Thargoid war you could use something like this with a tug of war conflict.

I get rep decay is slow, but it was the idea and repurposing it, so that you have a dynamic of war that with effort the momentum pushes victory but leaving it means the Thargoids take up the slack and the tide drifts back to the middle and eventually in a Thargoids favour (but the effort put in is not wasted with a hard reset).

And no, it happens with factions you are hostile with- leave them alone for a week or so and you come back to being unfriendly. In my times ripping apart sec forces I've returned to places I'd left on fire to be unfriendly. You are correct that it also happens to superpowers though.

I think in the end whats needed is a harsh war but one which does not render effort wasted- FD should know by now what players can withsatnd from BGS, Powerplay and CGs.

Its FDs fault really for making ED a bit too soft and flabby when early on you had to be on your toes.

The timer without reset would see to that. We'd still lose dozens of systems for a single system defended.
Sounds pretty harsh. Without the morale crippling reset.
Pretty sure we got HIP 23716 in the bag, but it will be close.
If it is lost with 98 % the damage to morale will be immense.

What are we saying now then? Everyone should concentrate at HIP 23716 until it gets to 100%?

I've been doing Imeut for scout kills, evacuate wounded missions and sometimes the CG hauling, all of which I hope, contribute to the effort and we should all ensure we get the Enhanced AX with each new CG!
Doesn't seem like a grind to me, I'm loving it!
It is great new gameplay (solo only BTW, stopped Open many months ago, I hope it does help)

I think as well (with removing the timer) its also a case of a bit of DMing from FD to shape peoples morale a bit. A crazy war is whats needed but unless you give some seed of hope all that is going to be wasted because people will assume this is the tempo forever.

Yea please concentrate your efforts at 23716. It’s got scouts for you to kill. Just go to a low cz and shoot away. If interceptors arrive you can either fly away from them and ignore them or just leave and go to the next low cz. Your efforts will help win this battle.

Eh, if this fails then Frontier will just lower the requirements again and we'll get it for sure next week. A nice little race to the bottom they've got here with these resets, if only there was a better way...

So the more we fail, the easier it will get. Might as well just sit it out for a while then, it will mean less grind in the long run.

Another thing to consider: is a system that we won safe?

I remember we rebuild the Oracle how many times?

Imagine defeating the Thargoids in HIP 23716 only for it to switch back to Alert status in a week or five.
Was that clarified?

I don’t believe it was. It’s probably another surprise mechanic waiting for us. If it does switch back to alert status within a short amount of time then this is all just completely pointless.
