The Open v Solo v Groups thread

Try it yourself. I did several times, in the bubble and in Colonia. 9 out of 10 CMDRs log the moment the interdiction minigame starts.
I don't deny there are good pirates out there or that it works. But 90% is logging and the rest looks like this:

I'd love (a bit like discussed for Powerplay) that people who do log out like that lose cargo- so they can escape, but it comes at a price.

Silly me, and I thought it was the wonderful roleplay you I-let-you-only-attack-me-if-your-reason-is-of-my-liking advocates so often proclaim.
Look how tough I am for playing Elite in Open, I only blocked 500 gankers, pirates and everyone not properly o7ing me... :ROFLMAO:
That piracy is role play does not change the fact that it is parasitic, i.e. the pirate wants something from the target that they are not entitled to.

That it may not be fun for the target means that it's possibly parasitic in terms of fun too, i.e. the pirate has fun but the target does not.

.... and there's nothing tough about playing in any game mode, contrary to the beliefs of some.

Its funny as in space PvE you can pretty much do anything with some G1 and light tech broker stuff, or even non engineered A grade ships.

When I used to BGS murderspank the police I'd do it in a near stock Clipper to keep costs down on bounties. Saying that I've seen G5 Cutters run like scared animals from Sidewinders armed with cannons and mines.
Those on-foot NPC's at least for me are different deal seem to be quite tough customers, at least against non engineered gear.

But its still valid and legitimate, while the trader can escape punishment free for bailing out.

If a trader bails on the instance, why not leave the cargo behind since otherwise whats the point?
It's an activity that players can choose to engage in, yes. It's also an interaction that the target can choose to leave at any time.

Why should cargo be left behind, given that none is left when the pirate destroys the target nor does the target drop materials?
