So it all started with me quietly stealing meta-alloys at those barnacles sites, hiding from aliens, to unlock corrosion resistant rack, that i never unlocked yet. Then i thought, that while at it, i could also gather some commodities (such as micro controllers), required for various broker modules and weapons, and i was thinking to do some missions then, as it's boring to simply purchase what's needed. First try was a failure, as i took evacuation mission in my Orca and only then realized that awarded neofabric insulation must be loaded somewhere, while i had passengers in the cabins, and throwing them away would not only be cruel, but also might mean no neofabric insulation awarded too. Then i took my Asp for a dozen or two of missions, carefully picking rewards.
Looks like some of the things can only be purchased, like Radiation Baffle, for example, never saw them rewarded. But gathered quite a lot of stuff for unlocks - and those chewed quite on my mats storage and especially on some things like Guardian technology and Weapon blueprints. So i thought i could go for another Guardian digging session to get some of those just in case i need them later, and i also took Scorpion with me, and what i can say.
So overall in my opinion it's only worth having a Scorpion with you as a 2nd SRV, as your only one it doesn't look like a great idea (even tho it works, except if flying is needed). I have a 4 class hangar in my Guardian specialized Asp, and currently i'm unsure if i keep a 2nd Scorpion for that kind of task, or i return two my usual 2*Scarabs setup.
I also tried fighting Sentinels on foot - works, rocket launcher removes like 20 to 25%, lasers work, kinetic works a bit too, i was shooting one with a pistol, but it's slow. Generally idk if it's worth to get out of your SRV, but if you want to, why not. You can also charge pylons with Aphelion and presumably other lasers. Now after writing all this i though that i might try the whole thing on foot, hm...

- It's tough. It's also slower and a bit less maneuverable. And less cargo if you gather those orbs and totems.
- Turret shoots Sentinels ok (can not say so better than Scarabs', but mb a little). Rocket hits for like 80% of their health, so kind of doubt it's worth as it's either two rockets (and you only have just a couple of them), either spinning the laser after anyway. It might be kind of worth it if a lot of Sentinels spawn around you, but the way it works usually, they're often lurking behind the walls, etc, giving you time to deal with them one by one.
- Scorpion has all the necessary for the scans, including orb scanning for the blueprint.
- Scorpion flies as high as hedgehogs do. Means if a precious Guardian technology bit is stuck on top of the tower (and that is often the case), you're screwed. Or, you can drive back to your ship and change for the Scarab and be fast for the item not to decay, which is a minute or just a bit more.
