Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

So it all started with me quietly stealing meta-alloys at those barnacles sites, hiding from aliens, to unlock corrosion resistant rack, that i never unlocked yet. Then i thought, that while at it, i could also gather some commodities (such as micro controllers), required for various broker modules and weapons, and i was thinking to do some missions then, as it's boring to simply purchase what's needed. First try was a failure, as i took evacuation mission in my Orca and only then realized that awarded neofabric insulation must be loaded somewhere, while i had passengers in the cabins, and throwing them away would not only be cruel, but also might mean no neofabric insulation awarded too. Then i took my Asp for a dozen or two of missions, carefully picking rewards.

Looks like some of the things can only be purchased, like Radiation Baffle, for example, never saw them rewarded. But gathered quite a lot of stuff for unlocks - and those chewed quite on my mats storage and especially on some things like Guardian technology and Weapon blueprints. So i thought i could go for another Guardian digging session to get some of those just in case i need them later, and i also took Scorpion with me, and what i can say.

  • It's tough. It's also slower and a bit less maneuverable. And less cargo if you gather those orbs and totems.
  • Turret shoots Sentinels ok (can not say so better than Scarabs', but mb a little). Rocket hits for like 80% of their health, so kind of doubt it's worth as it's either two rockets (and you only have just a couple of them), either spinning the laser after anyway. It might be kind of worth it if a lot of Sentinels spawn around you, but the way it works usually, they're often lurking behind the walls, etc, giving you time to deal with them one by one.
  • Scorpion has all the necessary for the scans, including orb scanning for the blueprint.
  • Scorpion flies as high as hedgehogs do. Means if a precious Guardian technology bit is stuck on top of the tower (and that is often the case), you're screwed. Or, you can drive back to your ship and change for the Scarab and be fast for the item not to decay, which is a minute or just a bit more.

So overall in my opinion it's only worth having a Scorpion with you as a 2nd SRV, as your only one it doesn't look like a great idea (even tho it works, except if flying is needed). I have a 4 class hangar in my Guardian specialized Asp, and currently i'm unsure if i keep a 2nd Scorpion for that kind of task, or i return two my usual 2*Scarabs setup.

I also tried fighting Sentinels on foot - works, rocket launcher removes like 20 to 25%, lasers work, kinetic works a bit too, i was shooting one with a pistol, but it's slow. Generally idk if it's worth to get out of your SRV, but if you want to, why not. You can also charge pylons with Aphelion and presumably other lasers. Now after writing all this i though that i might try the whole thing on foot, hm...

I'm back on the salad trail for a while and there's plenty to be found without even having to leave the bubble. The moon I'm on here is in a system at war and there's some on-foot CZs going on elsewhere on this same body. :coffee:

That's it.

Back to the bubble. Had enough of driving around - in the end, I was starting to get like a magnificent man in his buckyball machine which was getting me feeling a bit suicidal. Ravine? That's not a ravine, just a ditch! Pfft. Ooops, chassis compromised.

Bye bye system!

Aaaaanyway. If anyone fancies grabbing 35 bio's, pop over to Pro Eurl WF-O d6-29. I got 20 in the end. P-poor but there you go :D

Ah, the carrier needs tritium. The tedious process of moving the stuff from the FC hold to the depot... this needs a better mechanic. But, yeah. Just how big is s T9 anyway?

On a long carrier trip, the tritium transfer ship is the place you end up having to sit. Quain would never sit in anything less than his Imperial Cutter for such a task. Leather bound chairs and refreshments delivered to order by the onboard serving crew. And then there is the top notch infotainment system thankfully made by a different team to the one that makes the Cutter's Advanced Docking Computer.
When your Imperial royalty, it's important to have standards ...

I must be abusing my cutter.

The optional slots are taken up with cargo racks, limpet controllers and an FSD booster. It positvely reeks of platinum, painite and osmium. There's a bit of a serendibite to the nose and a lingering taste of occupied escape pods on the palette.

Luxury it ain't :D

I was on a hunt for materials of the manufactured / encoded kind.
Amongst many signal sources of level 0 threat, one snuck in there that had a slightly higher level.
While I tried to collect the materials floating around, some scumbag thought it would be a good idea to jump on my six, guns blazing.
Perhaps they thought the Stargazer was without weapons, who knows. I hurried to prove them wrong with some volleys from my multicannons, and while we were preparing for the second joust, my secret weapon showed up - the local police forces. Didin't take too long and the scumbag found themselves in the cargo space of one of the police vessels and I could collect what was left...

Righty-ho then! Route plotted - 29 jumps in my Asp X, but I'll be checking systems on the way in case any bios in those and/or anything worth mapping. Pretty unlikely that I'll get all 35 either but I'll see what I can do.

The Thargoid Scouts will have to wait patiently then, for me to arrive on their doorsteps in my newly acquired Krait Mk II, that's still stored at the station where I bought it and still haven't even got around to flying, never mind equipped with AX stuff...

Hmm. Weird.

Is there a bug with the sys/galmap? I tried to relook at that system which I'd fully explored - and handed in the data for - but when I go to the sysmap, no bodies are showing at all. As if I'd never been. It should have something like three x 7 bio bodies and 2 x 8 or similar - I should I have first footfall on all but one.

I'll be intrested to see if my name shows up.

Bizarre.

Hmmm... Let's see if I get the same bug after I've been there. I guess you did still get all the payments you were owed for those bios though did you?

Did you sold the Exploration data to UC? or only the Bio data to Vista Genomics?

Jumped to a system in lockdown and noticed it had a CNB. Well... it's been Quite Some Time since I got "War B'stard" out to play...

NB chasing Elite 1 in combat isn;' any quicker these days! :D

However, I become a Pilots Federation ally again.

EDIT: Actually, I'm going to rake O-Ren Ishii out and see if she's still the ninja she once was.
