The Federation Presidential Election 3309

The year of 3309 is fast approaching. And with it, the next Federation Presidential Election.
The question is;
Will Zachary Hudson actually step down?

According to lore, under the 77th Amendment, a Federation President serves one, 8 year term.

Zachary Hudson has served the full 8 year term.
But, there was The Hudson Contravention - https://elite-dangerous.fandom.com/wiki/Hudson_Contravention
which proposed a temporary suspension of the 77th Amendment, meaning Zachary Hudson could remain eligible to run again and continue his presidency.
The proposal was turned down but the decision on it was posponed and left to the sidelines.

So the questions still remain;
Will we see Zachary Hudson properly replaced and a new Federation President in line with the lore?
Will they just swap him with Felicia Winters?
Will we see something come from all the build up of Zachary Rackham's announcement of running for president?

Or will we see this Hudson Contravention conveniently allow FDev to keep things 'business as usual' and not have to worry about changing jpegs and writing up new lore?

Working with the Club and with the background of the Thargoid war, Hudson enacts special powers to remain in control, the government is reformed and Federation has a name change to the Imperial Federation. Hudson then has an 'accident' and starts hiding his appearance under a black cloak whilst a CG arc starts up where we build a planet destroying super weapon.

Nah, they won't disrupt the Federation too much. He'll use the war to push through the amendment allowing longer terms, run with war popularity because of his strong pro-combat agenda, and win by an only slightly-tempered landslide.

Hudson was preparing to use the "state of emergency" excuse to cling onto power ages ago, back when there was just the odd bombing and a few systems disagreeing with the whole "mass surveillance" thing. I'm surprised he hasn't already called off the vote given the gigantic angry death clouds.

As much as I'd like to see him go -- if he has to step down, who will supply us with our Pacifier cannons?
Winters supplies modules just fine as leader of the opposition. I'm also of the opinion that pacifiers are an affront to god, what do you mean you want a shotgun that works at long range? RAM THEM but that's besides the point.

I’m still waiting for the outcome of the investigation that implicates Hudson‘s involvement in the assassination of President Halsey, and the release of Hudson’s tax returns…

Don’t follow a man - follow a fair democratic constitution with rule of law and the separation of powers.

Forward the Federation!

What investigation? Case closed, it was a conspiracy to put Hudson in charge between Hudson's best mate and the CEO of the company that benefitted from Hudson's deals after Hudson was made President as a result of said conspiracy. Why would Hudson be involved in that?

I'm pretty sure that it was arranged in such a way that Hudson can honestly say he knew nothing of their plans. He already had the no-confidence vote lined up - and won it versus Winters despite the possibility of some representatives considering it "too soon" after Halsey's apparent death. Halsey wouldn't have been on that trip in the first place if it hadn't been expected that he would succeed with it.

Election postponed due to war.
The newly elected federation congressman who sent a convoy that ending up aggravating the enemy had nothing to do with Hudson, surely.

That would be pretty epic! Hudson would show up in power armor and a giant sword.

I'm sort of in the same camp, I don't think we'll see Hudson go anywhere.
But I dunno, I feel like there could be something in the plans with Rackham, with all the Galnet attention he got beginning of the year.
And it would be sort of frivolous to make all the hints about him eyeing the presidency only to brush over the election. But only FDev really knows what the plan is.
I guess we'll have to see what FDev cooks up if anything, when we get to it.
