No Crystal Shards at HIP 36601

I have not been able to find Crystal Shards on HIP 36601 (any planet) since the last update. Just hours before the update I was collecting shards, easily found.
Now no matter where I land there are no shard "trees".
I jumped all the way out here to gather raw mats. Now I can't find anything.

edit: I search the blue areas of the a planet in Horizons.
The update I'm thinking of is around the middle of December.

I've spent the last few days trying to top up raw materials using the alternative method of Phloem Excretions on Braintrees. But just about everywhere I went, only Polyporous Growths would show up, which were just low-grade stuff. Even specific coordinates normally used on the famous selenium moon were like this.

I've had more luck with crystalline fragments on fumaroles, but it's very slow going.

As always, the developers fail us.
Since which ‘last update’? I was there on 30th December and there were loads of the bloomin‘ things. Has there been a point update to the game since then?

You may already know this … but just in case: Horizons (Live) mode is now 4.0 so has the “Odyssey“ planet tech.

So there are no longer Biological Sites in either Horizons or Odyssey. You have to instead look for “blue” areas (visible from space in analysis mode assuming you’ve previously mapped the planet) and then spot the “trees” manually,

Assuming you’re aware and doing that, I have no idea whats going on. I collected a metric-ton of raw mats post Update 14 as part of engineering multiple AX ships.

First, I think there was an update in the middle of December? That's when I went out to gather Shards. One day, plenty, the next, none to be found. So not the Dec. 30th update.

I am searching the blue areas on the sunny side of the planets so I can see the "trees" from a distance. Still nothing as of last night.

I'm going to try another planet.

I just completed a visit to the below places, collected from here and various sites, with an entry in the Notes column and I was able to do a full mat run in Odyssey. I put the heading wheel together to assist with getting Lat\Long changes in relation to heading when you're in the upper atmosphere.

Thanks RabbiBob!

Added Selenium to Post #6 - the key is to scout around those landing coordinates - there are two large groves and a lot of scatter trees. I entered with 6 selenium in the hold and maxed out after reaching the 2nd grove. High qty of Manganese and Zirconium as well.

Nice info in this thread. Thanks for posting it everyone!

The only mats I am not 100% on are encoded (I am about half on all the g5's) and manufactured, with PI's and Mil Super's... both in the teens, all the rest topped off.

Brain trees, Jamesons, HGE's, and one last fill up at the shard sites prior to U14 in Horizons 3.8. I am taking a break from engineering for now. If feels good to be mostly topped off. It has been a long time since I previously did that.

Thanks for this. Found the thread after getting nothing but Iron instead of Polonium. Travelled to the coordinates that you shared and it worked as intended.

Chrystals are still indeed there. I was in HIP 36601 myself a couple weeks ago and found them in abundance. It has not changed. If you need exact coordinates expand the first pinned response to this video.

This still works. Just topped off all the above. I still have to use EDISON for the job. lol

Can confirm!

What I don't get is, how the hell did people find these without the scanner showing them up as biological sites? And is there an easy way to home in on specific numerical coordinates and land there? I always over-fly the location.

Shards are old style biologicals that show up on your wave scanner, have a look at yours - it's practically a solid bar...

Ah, I've got the hang of the DSS map overlay thing now and I'm finding them without coords. I had thought that the crystal spires were kinda rare, like a handful of locations on the entire planet. I didn't realize that they were literally everywhere!

That was indeed the old system, the new system is much better because you can fill up by driving around in the SRV without relocating to another site.

Well, you can always re-stock the site with your QTD.
(Quit To Desktop)

In the old system with POI's the sites didn't regenerate mats for around two weeks once you had harvested the mats, it's only since the new planetrary tech that old Horizon bio's regenerate with re-log, so no, that didn't work.
