Newcomer / Intro What are you up to?

I jumped into a golram orbiting ball of five closely packed stars, buy the time I switched over to my heatsinks, my dashboard was smoking and popping sparks. I had to fire up the ole AFMU, the Guardian FSD booster went down to 70% along with the canopy and cargo hatch was below 50%, dang it, hate it when that happens.
The heatsinks can be deployed using a key or button - I think V is the default (that is what I use anyway) - no need to assign to a firegroup. You only need to use a joystick button for burning stations in my experience.

Now, you lot just watch yourselves. I'm Deadly now, don't you know 😜

Many, many... many... many pirates and Thargoid Scouts died to bring me this promotion o_O

Next rank target is to get the Exobiology rank counter moving again and get to Elite III in exploration which won't take that much since I'm already 90% Elite II. I need to decide if I'm going to visit Colonia and then strike out to the far western edge of the galaxy, or visit the far south of the galaxy. I've already done north and Salome's Reach. The Fleet Carrier will stay in the bubble for this.
has a pirate i find that offence:) i also kill pirates if they are not see the light side of loren squeakers.

Grats on Deadly - you're half-way to Elite :D

I recommend binding a key to deploying a heatsink (when you do that, it will deploy it immediately, without having to do anything else). Even if you are playing with a controller only, without a keyboard or anything, I still recommend sacrificing one of the binds to heatsink deployment.
I did that recently. And while I was at it, I set another one to unleash the ECM, if equipped.
On my XBox 360 controller, I set them to B+LB and B+RB, respectively.

Question for all you lovely CMDR's.

How do you use EDDiscovery, if at all?

To clarify, I mean what do you use it for - I know how it actually works :D I'm just trying to figure out what it's best for.

Don't have any xtra's/extensions myself, but keen to hear what is recommended... that thing which helps with Exo-tracking is of special interest :]

*EDIT: ah this does looks interesting...

you can plan expeditions on eDiscovery, it will tell you everything like jumps needed. And also helps with recipes for engineering materials needed .inara only seems to show the basic items, until you go to the techno supplier, to find out you needed more than what said. meta alloys for one:) in the ended i had to search for four different commodities' to completed the mod

Wow, never had it that bad, even if I've arrived in a few systems through one of the stars... o_O
