Any nice atmospheric planets to visit?

I’m always amazed by some of the screenshots people post, but surprised by the lack of cataloguing.

So where can one find an atmospheric planet with rings?

Is there a potato world with an atmosphere.

Carbon-dioxide, rocky ice world?

Atmospheric planets with a tight orbit to their moon?

That's the beauty of this game: discovering them. Go out and give it a try.

My favorite view so far:

The Galactic Exploration Catalog does collect such stuff too. Some examples:

Crucible's Harvest (Phoo Flaae CA-A f1) (landable Hot Thin Silicate Vapour atmosphere planet with life)
Between the Rings (Mynoaw LC-L d8-1429)
Eye of the Prophet (Swoiphs TC-V c5-13) (the only ringed thin ammonia atm. world discovered so far)
Al’Ameira Dua (LHS 200) (inhabited ringed thin oxygen atmospheric moon)

As for your specific examples: Potato world with an atmosphere? Given the popular definition of potato worlds, there are most likely none. Carbon-dioxide, rocky ice world? Spansh (see above) will give you those. Atmospheric planets with a tight orbit to their moon? You're far more likely to find atmospheric moons in a close orbit to their parent, so, the other way around. They would look better too, because the parent planet would loom large on the moon's sky, while such a moon might not appear large from the planet.

Perfect!

Thanks you!
Now, a follow up question;
Do these stunning tourist attractions make it into the games passenger/tourist system.
So if one was to get back into passenger styled missions that we’d get to see some of these stunning finds?

I don't think frontier has updated the list of tourist beacons in many years now.

But the GEC is the next best thing, just go visit them on your own!

It's highly unlikely, as Frontier adding new tourist beacons to the game is very rare. The last time they did so was in 2021. September, when they held a competition for Earth-like worlds: they chose 50 of those to add new tourist beacons to. See this thread. Otherwise, I think the last time they added new beacons might have been the Beyond Chapter Four update in 2018. December.

So, in theory, it is possible that we might see new tourist beacons again, but personally, I'm not holding my breath.

There's a few been added since then - the Colonia Bridge CGs in late 2021/early 2022 had commemorative tourist beacons added to Alcor and Colonia after the whole sequence was done.

A competition to add some Odyssey surface beacons to replace the Horizons surface beacons which no longer point anywhere particularly interesting would be a good break from the Thargoids, though.

Good point. I'd just modify that last sentence: A competition to add beacons would be good ;)

thanks to spansh.co.uk I found a potato planet with atmosphere, biologicals. It's totally already been discovered and footfelled, but it's 400ly from sol, and is utterly bonkers!! Synuefe AM-D c28-8 A 1 and it's sister planet in close orbit Synuefe AM-D c28-8 A 2

Don’t forget the sister planet, they are both potatoes and both have atmosphere. One has plant and bacteria and a little more diverse textures for better screenshots ;)
