Alternatively, play The Witcher 3 NG, turn on ray tracing and crash.
Go to the menu, select Help & Support and then Reset to Orbit. You'll join the game flying outside.
Had the same thing, crashing after the loading screen with the rotating ship, ship was parked at WAKATA station.
drstrangelug's advice worked.
But @sallymorganmoore you might want to raise this with the devs, it looks like being in a station from a system that had its state changed could be a problem.

I have had a couple of unusual game shutdown the last few days I must admit, but nothing that was much more than an inconvenience really, but it's never more than maybe once in a days play, usually 2 or 3 sessions of an hour to two hours play, so nothing I am going to get upset about, we have an update coming soon so hopefully they will address this if people keep reporting them.
That used to work poorly. So why the hope for the future?
