"Live" Galaxy

Greetings Commanders.

Just turned on Elite for the first time in a while and suspect that we're not sharing the same galaxy as our PC counterparts - powerplay and BGS movement appears minimal.

Anyone confirm if this is actually the case?

Yes, everything is separate between the Live and Legacy galaxies. PC players can access both Live (4.0 client) and Legacy (3.8), consoles are stuck on Legacy.

That is... disappointing. Feels like GPP-era all over again, except this time you know nothing will improve.

And its been worse than that, we have not been getting features or functions update since March 22 on console...
So all the new content that showed up in twitter youtube and social media is not being added to legacy console versions only the live version...
That why the spam emails from fdev which you are likely not getting, were very important and not spam as they stated how fdev were offering free clone of account to PC and Free PC horizons 4.0 version to every active console user... This allowed all users with xbox and good enough ISP to play the PC version in the Xbox web browser... via Geforce now free tier service...

Yeah, I played fairly consistently up until about 2020.

The last year or so has seen my input drop to near-zero after FDev dropping console support.

Now the galaxies are separate as well, there's no chance that will change.

Well I've been wandering around out in the black for a year or so and not been paying much attention to the real world so missing out on all the drama. Looks like no chance of getting into the "parallel" game as will require considerable investment in PC gaming, a dragon I stopped chasing in the last century. Currently out in the Sleepy Sea so will keep on for Beagle point and that would seem a fitting place to retire my CMDR and playing. I suppose playing the first and last versions counts for something but shame really as its neen by far my favourite game. Any one have any suggestions for any PS 5 game thats open enough to explore for fun?

I feel your pain, I started playing the first week of GPP on Xbox. I’m still here out in the dark, just chugging my way around the galaxy

Some console commanders have gone down the Geforce Now subscription route to carry on playing in the "live" galaxy - budget alternative to a gaming rig.

Nah souds like hassle and additional expense, it was fun and very relaxing while it lasted but exploring a galaxy is really not the same as exploring the galaxy ....

Yeah I stopped after I realised that all the planets and systems I found after the split PC - Consoles means that a PC commander playing live will get their name on the system even if it was found first by a Console player . Pity really

Yeah second class citizens I guess, though eventually PC gaming should die out I believe as GPUS get more expensive and even more hard to get hold of so think frontier backing the wrong horse still c'est la vie. not to mention take up from the kids, what is the demographic for PC vs Console gamers, but I guess they know their players.

On XB you can have Geforce Now running in the native Edge Chromium browser
and 10euros per month is much cheaper than a gaming rig
