Do Guardian MRPs Actually Protect Against Thargoid Lightning Reboots?

Guardian Module Reinforcement Packages are supposed to protect against Thargoid Lightning attacks rebooting your subsystems. Is this only a percentage chance of protection or is it broken completely? I've been using them on my Challenger for the last two months and I haven't noticed much, if any, of a difference between standard MRPs and Guardian ones... other than the Guardian ones have slightly more integrity at the cost of an annoying amount of power draw.

Did they once protect us but are now broken? Did they never work? Or is it only a X% mitigation against the reboot?

I'm about to swap back to the standard MRPs because the power draw is getting on my nerves.
 
It's a % chance for each equipped mrp to negate a reboot event. You should experience fewer module reboots on average but it doesn't make you immune.

I'll add that I experienced the same number of module malfunctions with both Guardian and standard MRPs.
 
From what I've read from AXI, the way it 'protects' you is by being a powered internal module, and thus being possible for it to be the targeted module for shutdown.

So before you had like 6 internal modules that could shut down, so you had a 1/6th chance of your thrusters being hit. After, you have(lets say 3 module reinforcements) 9 internal modules, so your thrusters now have a 1/9th chance of being shut down, instead.

Since thargoid lightning cannon is also tractor beam it doesnt matter if your thrusters are down or not. You still cannot boost/ fly away.

Not much call to measure it manually either, since past a certain point as you get better at fighting them you stop getting hit with lightning entirely and even look forward to the interceptor turning yellow since it stops firing and becomes a sitting duck

Ok, based on that information, I'll think I'll remove them from my Challenger and switch it back to standard MRPs. The power budget is too tight on it. On my Krait MK II, I'll probably leave the Guardian MRPs in place.

Since thargoid lightning cannon is also tractor beam it doesnt matter if your thrusters are down or not. You still cannot boost/ fly away.
Except that if your thrusters are offline, you can't turn your ship toward it and shoot it in the face! :) If I get hit and stuck, I want to turn around and blast the sucker! :cool:

Typically, lightning is also a great opportunity to unload on the goid, since it does little damage to your hull or modules directly. Losing thrusters means losing attitude control, so you're left floating helpless, unable to turn to shoot it right in the face! Easily the most frustrating part of AX combat, for me.
