How did i die?

i just died and i absolutely cannot explain why.
Maybe someone can clear it up a bit for me. I was in space, not that far from my carrier, checking stuff in the galaxy map and the web browser (was comparing the route from the ingame plotter with one from a website) so i was alt-tabbing back and forth.
Out of nowhere, after tabbing back in, the game said that i died. I checked my logs via eddiscovery but found nothing suspicious. Also I am in a private group without pvp.

Any suggestions appreciated. I'm just coming back from a larger exploration... is this possibly a bug? and if the bug is infront of the screen, what exactly did i do wrong?

I have been told numerous times from the menu that I am dead, yet never happened.
Odyssey has more glitches than dodds has little liver pills.

but you seem to be dead, so..
sadly Odyssey logs are also very underwhelming with details.
on foot is a disgrace and pretty much totally useless.

considering your credits on hand, that carto is quite a loss.

I would put in a claim to fdev, create a report, not a bug report

ask them if they can tell why it happened, if you can't see the details in the log, which I have no prob believing is useless.

if they can't see why, then maybe you will get it all restored.

I did not, I thought edd shows everything.

Also it is very unlikely that I ran out of fuel, I just undocked from my carrier yesterday before logging out.

Just checked the file logs but found nothing new. Here are my last logs (removed the 'friends online' lines)

can confirm I am dead ;) As for the credits, its not that bad, i have another 800m or so in the carrier account. I just keep enough for insurance.

But thank you for your suggestion, I will open a support ticket and see what they say.

well according to your logs you had more than enough fuel, no damage
and zero leading up to :Dead..

and no the logs do not have or contain everything, we wish.
my program is made to see all events and list them in a menu so I can always look and see if anything new has been added.

Horizons 3.8 was getting pretty verbose in the logs, Odyssey is seriously lacking and if you go on foot it becomes 100% useless. srv too.
the lack of info in on foot areas and cz's, is just a complete waste of the space the file takes up.

knowing this and because of what you said, is why I suggest you get fdevs input of why you died.

I think EDO killed you the same way it does to me, very often. but you made the error of going into the game to check and became dead.

the connection between the cmdr and the ship is different in odyssey than it was in Horizons 3.8
in Odyssey, the game actually looses the ship I was in when I go on foot very very often, like every day often.
so often that I used to switch to Horizons anytime it could not locate my ship.
and boy does it generate more and more crap to follow
I have been forced to pay rebuys on ships that have never died, several times, at 40mil a pop that gets old the first time, to repeat is seriously aggrevating.
I have been forced to pay fines in the hundreds of millions.. one I paid, was a fine from a couple years back..have paid it twice now and that ship still has that fine attached to it.
I dont report it for many reasons..mostly out of anger due to crap code.. I'd rather move on and try to forget it.

i actually did exactly that (killed the process via taskmanager without confirming the message). thats why my log file ends after the 'Died' event.
After logging in again it showed the rebuy screen. Maybe i should have booted up Horizons instead. So bad we cannot play in 3.8 anymore.

But at least support already restored my data. Thank you everyone and fly Dangerous!

would be nice if they could tell you what happened, or was really a glitch.
