Bold predictions 2023

Let’s have some fun and give some bold PREDICTIONS about 2023. Not wishlists or dream things happening actual predictions that a majority would consider bold in nature.

Here’s mine:

I believe we’ll get both the Ratel (Honey Badger) AND Wolverine this year and they’ll use a similar rig.

I also believe we’ll see a lot of the birds we wish for in a aviary pack/ expansion but they will be In walkthrough exhibits and not a new aviary system. We will also see a lot of ground habitat birds like the secretary bird and shoebill.

We will see sea turtles or another semi aquatic ocean animal but not many other sea creatures this year. (I hope I’m wrong)

HAVE FUN! Leave your bold predictions below!

  • Either the Tasmanian devil or the wolverine, I doubt both
  • Expansion of wading birds rather than a aviary expansion
  • No marine animals but possibly the walrus or sea otter makes an appearance
  • last base game with animals are included like the black rhino and dromedary Camel in paid dlc
  • At least 4 carnivores of course and one more primate (please no)
  • Frontier forgets box exhibit animals exist and move entirely to fill out the walkthrough exhibits with random animals

  • Red River Hog, Serval and Gelada will be introduced
  • Four new packs that won't be as expected
  • An exhibit animal will the the 'core' species of one of the scenery packs is built around (like I see the bats for twilight pack)
  • There will be at least one new animal introduced that can be found at Shepreth - perhaps the coati or tamarins
  • The island pack will include an animal of the sea and an endemic flightless bird
  • Starting grid maps come in different shapes and sizes with option of buying more land if necessary
  • Organic farms to lower food costs - but guests will not be huge fans of them (smell) ''i didn't come here to see a pile of poo'' or 'this stinks'' comments
  • New guest gate and wooden barriers in different colours or 'wood stains'

Some random predictions, I'm not going to speculate about themes for DLCs.

  • African Pygmy Goats with even more color options than red foxes.
  • Rainbow Lorikeets with guest feeding interactions for the Walkthrough Exhibits. Perhaps joined by other lorikeet species, since a lot of them look similar and sounds for each species should be possible to obtain.
  • Even more surprise color variations for random species like we saw with the latest update.
  • West Indian Manatees
  • Sadly no pelican...
  • Options to keep multiple poison frog species together, with new species added.
  • Something will happen to the lion model, but maybe not a complete redesign as we hope

Now they've done the continents, I think they're kicking it off with terrain. We have wetlands and grasslands, so I'm going to guess that swamp will be next even though its a bit similar.
I'm also going to guess a mountain pack, an oasis pack, perhaps tundra as an arctic 2.0 pack, steppe (more horses?), and possibly a desert.
Seeing the niche twilight and conservation packs... I'm wondering if there will be a safari, though we have a lot of safari animals already... Adventure (which will be full of piratey and adventurous items), Exploration, perhaps.

Swamp is a type of wetlands. Also how did you not mentoon the 2 obvious big ones? Islands and tropical

Not in any particular order (of likelihood or order of release)

A Rainforests/Tropical Animal Pack - There's a LOT of animals that could fit under this but there's several that I think will absolutely be in this pack:
Sloth
Red River Hog
more than one New World Monkey - I know, they've not introduced two similar species before, but I think this will happen in this case.

The Tasmanian Devil will make an appearance. Possibly through an Islands Pack, possibly in some other way, but it's going to get in there somehow

We'll also get the Wolverine - either through a highlands, taiga or tundra pack. It's the top voted "cold weather" animal in the meta list, so if they do explore a pack like that, this seems an obvious inclusion.

That's all I can say without getting more into wishlist territory. Hopefully we can get exhibit birds and that will open up new possibilities, but until we do, I can't say I predict that we'll see them.

Yes, swamps are a type of wetlands, but I wouldn't be surprised if the devs want to revisit some territories. Swamp would allow for a much requested Great blue heron, Fishing Cat and a Common Snapping turtle. Other animals could include Marsh rabbit and the Cottonmouth.

For some reason, I see it more likely to have a name such as rainforest, rather than tropical.

I would like an islands and tropical pack though.

I could see it named like freshwater pack or something like that

Some optimistic ones that id love to happen:
  • 2 new habitat reptiles that arnt crocodelian for example parsons chameleon and/or the pig nosed turtle and/or the radiated tortoise in a tropical/islands pack, the african spurred tortoise and/or an australian monitor in a desert pack, the iguanas being freed for creative use
  • 2 new habitat birds with my biggest hopes for a stork, be it the white, black, painted, marabou, saddle or any other stork. I want one frontier
  • a pack without a member of carnivora, with the most likly being either an out of left field scenery pack or a drylands pack
  • no more canids
  • atleast 2 domestics with the dromedary and budgiey for a desert pack, the domestic yak or scottish highland cattle being good candidates for a highland pack, shetland pony for islands and just in general hopefully a domestics scenery pack
  • A duck, swan or goose that will blow the communitys mind, most likly in a scenery pack
  • 4 new WE exhibits, the cubes of creative death will be shadowrealmed for new dlc additions
  • no malayan tapir update (eventhough that goes against the optimism)
  • a wonderfull aniversary animal that we will not predict, but hopefully a monkey from SA. So my prediciton/hope would be the white faced saki or the squirrel monkey

1. The Malayan tapir gets fixed. The lion, as PZ's mascot, remains untouched.
2. Children's zoo scenery pack (maybe this spring) with a free update including a carousel.
3. For the first time I actually think we'll get a year without canines, but at least one feline and one bear.
4. No aviary pack, but birds are introduced as both habitat animals and via the walkthrough exhibit system. The spring DLC will include either budgies or lorikeets.
5. We're never getting fully aquatic animals (excluding the axolotl), sorry.

A few things for me:
  • Exhibit boxes get new size options
  • Base game and previous DLC animals get a visual overhaul to look just as pretty as recent DLC animals
  • Another large monitor lizard
  • Sea otter in a pack with more aquatic plants both salt and freshwater
  • Green anaconda being the first and only non-exhibit snake (I'm thinking bold here and that would be a pretty big surprise imo)
  • Temperament system (shy, aggressive, social, etc. traits for animals)
  • Null path
