Stellar Lighting and Planetary Surface Lighting is still messed up.

So you did make a complaint to the ASA?
I did too, false advertising is false advertising. That's what the ASA is there for - even for games. With the crap that Rockstar, CDPR, Ubisoft, EA etal are pushing on their customers it's high time games companies were held more accountable for what their adverts are selling.
It's not gonna solve world hunger or dumping on minorities but if it forces games companies to be a little bit more honest then it's all for the good.
IMHO!

The stellar lighting and planetary lighting was still not fixed in this update. Currently the star and/or atmosphere colors have no effect on the planet surface so you can have a blood red sky and a solid white ground. This looks weird, unnatural and is completely different than the images shown in the live stream just before Odyssey launch. Fixing this should be a priority.

This is what we were promised:

This is what we got:

I'm sorry, how on earth has this been marked as fixed???????

This is not fixed!

Stars all turn magically white when landing on all Odyssey planets, it's totally deceptive to have marked this as fixed when all planets continue to look like the second picture, regardless of star class.

It's so disappointing to see all the issues Odyssey brought to the lighting and graphics swept under the rug.

Or perhaps you meant something different?

The comparison is deceptive, you have the dusk/dawn lighting in the first image and then mid morning in the second. I've seen images like the first one, you just have to go to the meridian to find them. You see that same thing in real life every day with sunrise/sunset vs midday lighting.

The comparison is deceptive,
It was 'broken' and the 2nd picture was an accurate representation of atmo bodies for a while...
Of course, it has been 'fixed' for a long time (it was in patch notes even!) and bodies, such as I illustrated above, have become as expected.

Naturally, to see the changes, one had to load and play the expansion...

So does that mean FDev have incorporated Rayleigh scattering into the atmospheres as well? I shall have to have a look myself when I'm next exploring an atmospheric world.

your examples prove my point lol except the first image, they all have white stars. this is a pale imitation of what Horizons achieved.

don't be disingenuous, go back to the first post of this thread and tell me you've ever seen anything like that first image in Odyssey.

Horizons planets would be utterly bathed in purple light from O class stars, now they are the same boring white. They have not fixed this issue properly.

Maybe because they were in systems with white stars? The "Y" class dwarf disproved your blanket comment immediately...

Each of us expect whatever we wish from our games, obviously, and will stubbornly stick to those perceptions...

At least one of us is enjoying things as they are, which suits me fine.

ETA: To me the Horizons lighting was broken anyway, or perhaps more "Artistic Impression" than biased toward "real", whatever that may be... Lots of orange and, as in your example of "O" class stars, actinic purple light illuminating a landscape brightly even when the star was barely visible...

As for being disingenious... Why are you asking me not to be?

As you know, and has been repeatedly demonstrated in other threads (e.g. https://forums.frontier.co.uk/threads/broken-stellar-lighting.595270/), he's referring to atmospheric lighting. If you landed on any atmospheric planet (even one with a Y Class Dwarf as it's primary light source), the star will turn white as soon as you enter the atmosphere.

Additionally, all stars (with the exception of brown dwarfs) emit white light throughout the game - all the colour grading from Horizons has been removed.

Bingo!

So rather than simply tone it down, FDev removed it altogether.

Hardly a fix. 🤷

Because being "disingenious" (sic) means "not candid or sincere, typically by pretending that one knows less about something than one really does.", which means you are knowingly and deliberately engaging in bad faith which is against the forum rules.

Unfortunately, FDev won't fix this as they are only fixing minor bugs which may directly impact new content - they've given up fixing anything else now.

It sucks.

How did your adventure with ASA go, you never mentioned the result...
FDev partially fixed the atmospheric lighting to match what was specifically shown in the promotional videos (I don't know if it was a result of my ASA complaint though), so it was hard to continue pursuing the specific grievances I raised in my complaint as that was the main issue at the time.

I don't really care enough about the game any more to bother chasing it up because it's evident that FDev lack both the will and the ability to fix their botched game engine, and so I rarely play these days.

Nevertheless, I still pop into the forums occasionally when someone updates a thread I participated in (like this one) to correct misleading statements from certain toxic forum members, and hope in vain that something has improved.

Yeah, I remember that, and that's an additional part of the deceptive aspect to; by using an image from that time of day someone motivated to do so could pretend that it's still a thing. See here:

They aren't 1:1, and I know you completely understand, but I say they suffice to explain my point that the first pic, taken from the current version of Odyssey, could be held up like "see, it's not fixed", but the second one, taken on the same body much closer to the terminator shows that the terrain does feature the sunset/sunrise effects. That's why I mention the position of the 'sun' in the sky specifically to hopefully put it to rest, as the response "it's fixed now" could still be rebutted by suggesting that the picture was taken from update 14, therefore "proving" their point that it's not fixed.
