Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

.....Not sunk cost fallacy on our part either, but wanting to support what we think is still a worthwhile project despite the idiot Roberts 🤷‍♂️
Sadly I think that any project with Roberts in charge is doomed and so not worthwhile. I knew his track record and so, despite liking the sound of what was proposed, opted for a wait and see approach.

I have gone in with other early access games, with varying outcomes, and still hope SC/SQ404 get finished enough to be worth a punt. It's just that I don't see this happening, not now, too much water has gone over the dam.

The best thing for the game would be for Roberts to sell it on. Maybe some cunning Canadians could yet save the day year decade.

Step 3 should be profit surely?

CIG developer: "re-le-a-se???"

BTW, given that the infrastructure behind SC consists of the game client but also a bunch of easily separable services (Graph Mushing, game servers, something something message queues or distributed logs), they can develop those independently as long as they have some reasonably sane practices of defining and evolving APIs between them, so that their implementations can progress at their own pace.

CI certainly do not "merge everything with everything" as this insane branching presentation would let commandos to believe, because GhAYMEdeVV is not black magic. It is software development. It will surely have some irreducible complexity, but it will also have software engineering tools and practices to manage it. Most of the GyaHmeDev issues they are facing seem to be self-inflicted wounds.

11 years and half a billion dollars later, elevators still not working properly. I'm buying more idrises

A lot of backers are naively convinced Jared made the decision to do that whiteboard thing on his own, as though he chose to somehow take a risk. That thing was clearly rehearsed and planned by higher-ups, blessed off by CR.

That board display was just a lot of words and markers´ ink wasted for "we suck at developing, our code is broken and you won´t have much new content coming any time soon, sorry".

But we have a super duper revamp of Arena Commander almost ready for you!

Many a backer will hold on to that rationalisation for dear life though, so well done CIG.

Ok, if 2023 is as barren as 2022 and they still set funding records, there are definitely shenanigans going on ;)
I think you undersestimate the population of space granddads with large disposable income, increased normalisation of spending of thousands of dollars on a portfolio of JPGs and CI's growing aptitude at discovering the shape of and climbing up the demand curve.

Gotta Catch 'Em All
CIG know their target market and how to get them to spend cash into CIG's coffers.

I mean, even our fellow Mole here spent £thousands, got a refund, then spent £hundreds again. Chris is naturally very thankful for that.
