Model change "Skins" getting the "Variants" treatment.

So now that some (but not all) Variants have been given the same treatment as normal animals--able to use the color and pattern change system--the question for Frontier arises; could we see the same happen to skins with model modifications?

Obviously not all could receive this upgrade, such as Bumpy or the Malta Carnotaurus, but certainly more generic skins, such as:
  • Triceratops 1993
  • Stegosaurus 1997
  • Brachiosaurus 2001
  • Ankylosaurus 2001
  • Pteranodon 2001
  • Velociraptor 2001 Male
  • Velociraptor 2001 Female
  • Prehistoric Tyrannosaurus
  • Dominion Parasaurolophus
  • Dominion Dimorphodon
All of these clearly possess unique models, and yet they are treated like mere skins and therefore limited to their default color scheme. So I ask you Frontier, won't you consider giving these skins the Variant treatment--the full color and pattern options--that they deserve?

Yes, I would definitely want this to happen, like if we did have it for the 2001 Male raptor we could make Red from the original concept for Jurassic World.

I agree @DragonNTiger this is needed.

Is this about new skins like the new 'Dominion Giganotosaurus' colour skins on the other dinosaurs you listed?

Yep... while many of the Variants now have color options, like all the basic skins do, the various skins are limited to whatever colors they have by default... which is fine if we're just talking colors, but many skins feature unique models as well. Would be nice if those unique model skins had all the color options too.

Just wait until Frontier give the Camp Cretaceous Tarbosaurus colour options.

You know, aside from these models that are already in the game getting variants (which I do want to see). It would be neat to get a variant DLC for some of the species that use a real taxon's name but have a more fantastical design. Deinonychus comes to mind, I know that there are people that like the original Frontier Deinonychus but that's kind of the beauty of variants in that they don't replace the original designs. I prefer a harder lean towards realism in the designs (especially now that we're finally getting more of it) so that Deinonychus one doesn't sit right with me. Especially considering how quintessential it is to the public perception of dinosaurs.

Baryonyx is another that could use a secondary variant to actually make it look like a baryonychine at all.

Maybe a larger Dilophosaurus.

I'm spitballing but honestly this was spurred by the new pack announcement. I love all 3 of the other additions but the CC Tarbosaurus is such a miss-step and I know that's not on Frontier. In JWE 1 I remember wanting Tarbosaurus because a leaner and more mobile equivalent of the T. rex would be an interesting shake-up. There are lots of other dinosaurs that have been added that kind of fill that role now so it doesn't matter so much. But the CC Tarbosaurus is mechanically no different to the rex.

It's kind of a dilemma because if CC didn't include a Tarbosaurus I don't think Frontier would have added one, and yet now that they've added the CC one we can't get to see what Frontier would have done with its design because that spot is filled now. It's not too big a deal though. That being said if a variant DLC came out I don't think Tarbosaurus would get one just by virtue of the fact it's a taboo to release DLC for a DLC, which is fair enough.

I will say I think most people would just straight up want new additions in packs rather than this which is why I think this concept could work better as part of an expansion rather than pack, kind of like an antithesis to secrets of doctor wu where you're trying to make more authentic animals as opposed to more hybridised ones.

Ideas:
Adult variants:
Pachycephalosaurus
Moros
Dilophosaurus
Realistic variants:
Basically every raptor
Mosasaurus
Canon:
Troodon 1993
Tylosaurus 1993
Pteranodon 1993?(IDK if they had a unique design in JP:TG)
Pterandon 1997(Different from Geosterbergia)
Parasaurolophus 2015
Pachycephalosaurus 2015(Could be the same as adult variant)
Baryonyx 2015
*the 2015 skins would be their designs on the JW website

I'm not sure I follow with the adult Pachycephalosaurus. The one in game is already larger than it's real counterpart

As for making a Mosasaurus variant; mosasaurs are fairly morphologically uniform. It would probably be a better use of development time to just add another like Prognathodon. Or Globidens if Frontier are up to adding a shell feeder or something.

Yeah none of those animals are ever going to get variants. The only animals that get variants are those that appeared in the films with multiple designs or those that appeared in the previous games before their canon appearance. They're not going to make a "realistic" Tarbosaurus, the canon one is all we're going to get since Tarbosaurs would have never been added if it weren't for it being a canon species now.

I know. I said that the system had potential. Not that the potential wouldn't inevitably be wasted.

T-rex 65 million year old variant getting skins. It makes me wonder how much more amazing it would look with the patterns of something like the Gigantosaurus or the new Tarbo. I love Frontier's use of earthy tones and blues, and embers of reds, and whites. The patterns would look stunning. The King should look like a king.

Not the point of this thread, but okay. I must say, if Frontier gave a realistic variant to every animal that needed one, they'd end up giving a variant to just about every animal in the game... also, those "juveniles" are adults according to Jurassic canon, and calling the '93 game and the PR websites canon is considerably dubious...

What about the 1993 Brachiosaurus? I'd say it's distinct enough to be its own variant.
Unless I'm mistaken--and I'm fairly certain I'm not--there's literally no difference between the basic model and the 1993 skin... it's just a unique color scheme.
