Game Discussions Star Citizen Discussion Thread v12

I've been looking at the 3.19 Roundup today, and seeing the 4 tags coming;
  • Tutorial for new players.
  • Loreville Cityscape Rework.
  • 1 Salvage mission type.
  • 1 type of new PvP mission in a specific location.

Well, we all already know what the game currently offers us in the current 3.18, the "few and bugged" game loops we have, the "poor" state of PES, and the state of lag and crashes that makes going to a bunker and finding all the AI unresponsive, or trying to do anything PvP/PvE in ship or on foot simply impossible. At the earliest we'll have that 3.19 by the middle of this year, and until September at the earliest we won't have whatever comes with 3.20 (or whatever they call it).

So a SC player is right now aware that, until September of this year, what he's going to have at most is the current 3.18 gameplay plus those 4 silly things, right? Eight more months just with this... and we'll see what 3.20 brings... because it could very well be a full year with hardly any new interesting and refreshing playable stuff...

That's SC, and that's been going on for several years. SC fans have been talking all this time about "future", "soon", "we will have...", but the reality is that, 10 years later, there is no game, there is no progress in your character because obviously, since there is no real game, everything is reset every x time, so there is nothing to motivate you to play beyond the novelties and advances, and it doesn't even have those little new things every 3 months...

Seriously, what encourages a SC player to face all this 2023 beyond "dreaming" that by December they can have a 4.0 with Jump Points and Pyro?

Ok, I understand that 4.0 can be exciting, it seems understandable to me. But, until that possible 4.0 in December (fingers crossed), we all understand that there will be little or nothing to do in SC, right? Because, whatever the fans say, nothing serious and interesting can be done in SC today.

And the years go by, and the important things don't arrive, only new ships in T0, empty locations in T0, some new playable mechanics in T0 (but few, make no mistake)... and the years go by, and only the hope of that 2.0 keeps them... then the 3.0.... now the 4.0... that really doesn't change anything, because the years go by, and there is still no real game that gives you real reasons to play it every day... but the carrot is still there in the form of x.0... and it works for them... it's incredible to believe, but it works for them.

There is already more content in SC than in every other AAA^A release combined. Pyro is basically here and with the discovery of Jump Points the whole ‘Verse will open right up like a bag of crisps.

You really need to trust in the Vision just a little bit more, perhaps buying an Idris will bring some clarity?

IDK, the entire Stanton system is smaller than a large star in ED.

Perhaps Star Citizen should have started as a Transit game rather than a Space game. They could have perfected all of those trains, elevators, ramps, stairs, doors and what-not. And right now they would be spending all their time on cool space game shenanigans and game play loops. And, dare I say... fun stuff?
(Of course this would have killed their business model)

Trains will be fixed once the water pipeline tech is in.

I wouldn't call the tutorial "silly" (at least not until i see it, this being CIG anything is possible!). The game damn well needs a tutorial.
