Following a few simple rules goes a long way in creating an enjoyable experience for all: AXI Presents twelve good etiquette rules to make the most of

but i think point 9 is out of order to be honest....... i do wonder now if that is why on a couple of occasions i have been ordered to leave an instance the moment i drop in, which frankly i think is pretty damn rude.

I never asked anyone to leave the instance, no matter the circumstances.
However, i did said to some people to either Aim for the hearts (in case of way too many panic shields) or to park the SLF.
But that was it.

When i could no longer take it, i was the one leaving to Solo 😂

like i said, not aimed at you...... i was acutally killing thargoids for a few weeks before i realised i was doing it wrong TBH..... no idea how many messages i got however, as they vanish in vr as soon as you look at them (another bug FD should have fixed years ago)

yeap, message spam in a CZ is quite attrocious
I miss a lot of messages too, including wing invites 😒
would be a nice QOL option to filter only pilots federation member messages... and arguably not entirely illogical either as we are meant to be our own special little cabal.

i wouldnt want to get rid of npc chat all together, despite its repetetiveness i rather have it than not....... most of the time........ but in a CZ with other players its rubbish so the option to disable npc chat would be great temporarily.

Your build is quite different from mine. I'll see if I can get my build into EDSY but I've not been playing for the last 8 days due to being quite ill with covid which has kicked my butt. (On the mend now thankfully). I'm also playing via linux/WINE so will have to try and figure out how to get that data out to EDSY. But I can see this veering away from the subject of this thread.

Didn't axi have an instance recently with 18 players and an slf and no noticeable lag? Honestly, there have been quite a few reports of people having no lag when using or seeing slfs, we should organize a community slf day, have everybody bring one along, but don't deploy it until you have everyone in the instance. Wait for a few minutes and fight for a while, and then, all at the same time, have everyone deploy them all at once.

After all, Frontier did Mark the old support ticket as fixed. They seem to be hesitant about saying for sure that net code has been fixed entirely, but it's entirely possible that it is now fixed well enough for lag to be a rarity.

It could save everyone a lot of effort in the long run, and it would be a darn shame if people had been killing other people for months to years for no reason.

Off topic but FWIW, you can use EDMC on Linux which will send data to the EDDN and Inara. You can open both Coriolis and EDSY directly from EDMC (for the current ship) and you can open both from Inara for all your ships.

I’ve been in instances where people have SLFs out and had no lag issues. Has anyone complaining about SLFs actually tried an instance with an SLF out, or have they just yelled at and/or attacked the person launching it?

LOL, you were successful but "doing it wrong"?
"If it’s stupid but it works, it isn’t stupid."

i dunno, i could have been a lot more efficient about it and there is a good chance other people in my instance were probably not happy at the amount of times i was making it panic shield.
that said none of us were pros and everyone legged it as soon as the hydras showed up, so i guess they were not that skilled after all (i foolisly had a go and quickly regretted it)

This subject is so dear to people as a scapegoat, no amount of evidence is going to convince them.

Don't let the elitists get to you. 10% more dead is still dead.

yes, 2 weekends ago
lots of rubberbanding

I wonder if this is related to Elite's peer-to-peer networking where the online experience is limited by the weakest internet connection. If everyone in the instance has sufficient upstream/downstream bandwidth there are no perceived issues, but as soon as someone with a poor or limited connection deploys a SLF they degrade the experience for others.

I've used SLFs with friends who also deployed SLFs many times online with no issues. I've only ever experienced lag / rubber-banding in an AXCZ in Open at the start of the Thargoid War, but as the two Commanders responsible never replied to anyone in the instance who messaged them I have no idea if either of them had dodgy internet connections.

I never get invited to the large group battles. It's usually me and 2 other commanders fending off massive hordes of enemies. It might be my region and time I choose to play as to the lack of commanders.
Occasionally PDES and other rescue group members land while I'm in the instance, and I try to provide LO-CAS and escort until they clear the CZ. I haven't noticed much in the way of bugginess, so at least FDEV has this part right.
As far as #9 goes, I'm trying to get that insta-kill from the multi-hit bug with my 6 SFCs. I have a feeling other pilots with the similar build are trying the same trick. That might explain the increase in plasma spam lately. It "does" work at times, mostly when the interceptor is below 40% health. But a too-weak burst might be triggering the panic shields.
Of course, if any other pilot has a build that can at least excite a hydra or medusa heart without being torn apart in the first barrage or needing 6 SPCs, I'm all ears.

To help supply at least one reason related to 10, my personal observation is that often stabbing the Interceptor shield just provokes a new shield anyway (this happens if the Interceptor is still emitting missiles at the time).
This (instant replacement shield) is guaranteed to happen if the shield gets destroyed too soon. You have to wait for the interceptor to come out of the sleep phase (when it begins firing its cannon again), but in a large group there's no reason to ram it off - it'll deteriorate quickly enough with all the beams on it and you're going to end up collecting other people's shots if you put yourself in the way.

It depends. Ram a cyclop's shield off and give the bug a full blast of 6 shards.
