Good to know what comes next ;)

The API never lies. Let's find some Ammonia worlds to explore instead.

Back to the Caustic Sink Launcher. If it is only soso well anyone can buy one with credits. If it is a major improvement versus decontamination limpets and heating up your ship to burn off the caustics well I guess the Devs will have us to into a Malestrom to gather the needed materials to buy each one. But then the Devs never give us a major improvement always worried about game balance. We'll see.

The thing might just reduce | slow down the caustic effect and thus prolong your life inside the maelstrom. If so, hm.

Heatsinks with a combination of silent running, or a ship that is engineered to be naturally cold like a dolphin or krait mk2.
I've given up. Your advice helped with preventing the generators from attacking me, but the combination of not being able to target or maintain target lock on them from further away than about 1km, and "losing" the successful scan if they move out of range (i.e. I can't target subsystems to launch research limpets when I get back in range and re-target one that I already scanned) turns out to be one of the least fun gameplay experiences I've come across in Elite

I do awesone in a Malestrom with an Imperial Clipper build and a 7D repair limpet controller gathering caustic mats. It heals 15 percent of hull with each limpet and can repair light caustic. I have the EAX multi-cannons in case I have to deal with Scouts along the way. I love flying a Clipper and thanks to the Thargoid war I now have a use for it. Add this Caustic Sink Launcher well we will see if I need it.

UPDATE: I got the Caustic Sink Launcher thingy. Adding it to my Clipper then off to the Malestrom I go.

I highly doubt they will be directly purchasable with credits. The caustic generators are a source of two different materials, one will be used for synthing while the other will be for unlocking...
FDev need to get over all this synthing [REDACTED] - it’s not clever and it’s not fun.

I’m taking a break from Elite at the moment but might come back to poke around the maelstroms if this new little doodad helps.

If acquiring said doodad involves doing the thing it’s supposed to help with then, frankly, they can do one and I shall continue having fun playing other games!

If your doodad doesn't work without putting some effort into it well then all the best playing other games. Elite Dangerous was never about having one build to take on anyone else.

This CG was crazy! I traded a ton of palladium on the first 2 days and made enough to finish outfitting my fleet carrier and store enough credits to secure it for a few years. Ironically, I had to sell all of the outfitting I bought to make room to try out trading with it. I just finished unloading it and that sure is a different trading experience, not sure I care for it.

Much more old school for me.
I returned to my carrier to pick up one of my trading ships and found that there was a megaship in system with enough Advanced Catalysers to make loading there worthwhile, I then found that the destination megaship was only 3 jumps loaded and 2 jumps empty away from me.
So instead of loading the carrier and then trying to find somewhere closer to unload from I just hauled in my cutter, it was much more fun despite the activities being so similar.

There were systems with plentiful supply of Advanced Catalysers 1 jump away and 2 back to the megaship

After running out of palladium, i did Advanced Catalyzers from Gurragchaa Orbital in L 190-21, 36.88 Ly from Duamte - which was 1 jump away for my 752t specially prepped Cutter

You should use a 7A universal limpet controller. Higher class, replaces your need to bring a separate collector controller, and it has decontamination and research limpets. Downside is the weight, but the Clipper can handle it.

Nope.
A 7D repair limpet will do a better job than an ULC since the ULC are providing one size lower limpet services.

That means a size 7 ULC will provide the size 5 equivalent limpet controller services (size 5A/5C prospectors, 5A/5C collectors, 5A/5C repair, etc)
