Ships A question about fleet carriers

I have never owned a fleet carrier and couldn't find this info easily by googling, so I was wondering if fleet carrier owners get to see who docks at their carriers. Like, do they have a log of visitors or something.

I'm just curious because it would actually be nice to dock on other player's carriers, if they can see it, as a kind of "hello".

I haven't found a way to see a log of who has visited, but you can check Inara now and then to see who is currently on board :) [edit: obvs this depends on the visitor supplying data to EDDN and/or Inara.]

Well, that's a pity.

I assume that likewise if you purchase something from the fleet carrier and the owner gets a cut, he may see the profit but not who bought the thing?

Yeah that's been my experience so far. I'd love to know if there's a way to find out anything at all about the actual sales (like if it was one sale or many...).

Given that you have a log in your upper left corner of the screen about other players that have appeared in your radar, one would think it would be quite easy to have a log in fleet carriers of players who have docked. It's a bit strange that, apparently, there is no such thing.

Uhh, that contact log exists because you are there joining an instance or being visited in your own instance. There is no such thing for your carrier. They would have to add it as an entirely new thing.

There are many parts of the game that could use additional depth, fleet carriers visitors is one. I've read that the only way to find in-game who is currently on board is to try and decommision the thing...
I haven't tried it, though.

for limited benefit
There's like a thousand little features in the game that are there "for limited benefit", but which add to the aesthetics or flavor of the game, ie. to its richness. I am quite certain there are hundreds of little features that needed to be explicitly coded that would be significantly less used and less paid-attention-to than a fleet carrier log telling events that have happened (such as who has docked and when, something that should be an obvious feature of such a megaship).
