Update 14.02 Now Live!

Ah, the tweet says "mostly abandoned" which I took as controlled... but then, there's a bunch of other activity recorded there so it seems more likely the salvage didn't register anything at all rather than being responsible for the 2%.

Could be. There were actually 2 experiments. The one you see on Twitter ended with a little bit of overlap with one we did, where we gathered 1420/855/559 occupied escape pods/damaged escape pods/black boxes over the course of 20 hours. We saw 4% during that time, but again, the other activity going on could have accounted for all of that.

Yeah, certainly could be other activity, but I had thought (more likely: misunderstood) from the wording of the quoted tweet that the event of handing in of the black boxes & pods triggered an instantaneous bump that was noticeable, a bit like handing in tens of billions of bonds to a CG. (If it was instead happening over the course of the collection, then yeah no way to be sure.)

And indeed, the way this post is phrased makes me think it wasn't instantaneous.

I presume that killing Thargoids produces an effect at their time of death, rather than whenever the proceeds are cashed in?

Even if the effect is instantaneous, the progress bars do not update in real-time, or on a schedule, or even on everyone's galmap at the same time. So there would be no way to detect an instantaneous 2% or 4% bump even if it did happen, since 2% is our level of granularity as well.

Ahhhh

Any chance we could get a bit more info on how much stuff like tissue samples and escape pods contribute? It's pretty hard to isolate and figure out how much they do.

Just tried going to HYADES SECTOR AQ-Y D81 and had the game freeze as others have pointed out.

Is there somewhere I can go to read up on what is broken so I don't waste a bunch of time.

Thanks.

None of the Barnacle Forests work. They have been broken for a long time. The patch notes for this update said that they were fixing just one of the Barnacle forests (as a test), I noticed as soon as the update was released that it was still broken.

Presumably we now have to wait for update 15 to see if the next attempt at the fix will work. I wouldn't waste a vote on it personally.
